RIVALS XLV: RUDE vs SPEED PREVIEW

Welcome to the Prefight Show of RIVALS XLV: RUDE VS SPEED which will be held at SHINJUKU OUTDOOR ARENA, TOKYO on 17TH OF AUGUST, 2012. This event is proudly sponsored by our merchandise partner HELL’S KITCHEN LAB CORP. Fights are three 5-min rounds for non-title fights meanwhile we have two Title bouts which will be a five 5-min rounds in a 10 points must scoring system.

On to our fights, starting the night will be a bout between VASILIS MALIOUFAS (0-2) VS LESBEK ALIEV (1-1)

Our first bout of the night can go either way, Malioufas is looking to get his first W and he may be able to get it if he can use his Muay Thai skills better this time around, meanwhile Aliev needs to be as relentless as he was on his previous fight where he got a win via Submission. This is a close one but I would give this to Malioufas via decision.

Next is JAMES BLACKHILL (1-1) VS JOHANNES VERNE (1-1)

Both fighters are coming of a loss on their previous fight and are looking to buy a win to have a good start on their young career. Both fighters are good wrestlers but Blackhill has a slight advantage, if he could avoid being clinched where Verne has the distinct advantage he may be able to dominate this bout. This will be a close call, but I will give this one to Verne via T/KO on second round.

Up next, JUN ARAI (0-2) VS ETHAN SACKETT (2-0)

Sackett is looking to go on a three-fight winning streak while Arai will try to avoid being down 0-3. Sackett will have the advantage on the ground and must utilize his dangerous GnP as well as his Muay Thai expertise. Arai needs to upgrade his game if he wants to end Sackett’s W-streak, which will be hard but in MMA miracles can happen. But I will give this one to Sackett via first round T/KO.

Our fourth bout of the night is between Knockout Artist JEROEN BLAUWOOG (2-0) VS Freestylist OUTKAST JOBBER (1-1)

This is a fight to watch if you’re a Knockout fan, Blauwoog is a budding knockout artist capping his 2 wins via first round KO a good start in his young career and if he does it big again in this one, he surely will be a must-watch fighter. Meanwhile Jobber will be up against a fighter looking or a finish early on if he will be able to survive Blauwoog’s early onslaught and take this fight on the ground and keep it there all throughout the fight, Jobber can get the W. With that said, I would still give this fight to Blauwoog in another first round T/KO.

Next fight is BONG KI DUK (4-1) VS GREAT PETE (4-4)

Looking to take his 4-fight winning streak in Eternal Rivals is debuting Korean, Bong Ki Duk, who will be using his stand-up expertise to go against Great Pete who has a good wrestling background. Pete via Decision.

Up next, MOHAMED ZULU (3-2) VS HARRISON BEST (4-3)

This is going to be a good stand-up war between Zulu and Best. Zulu will be looking to start another winning streak and end his two-fight losing streak while Best wants to avoid having an equal win-loss record and to move up the 205 lb division ladder. Best has the advantage on clinch and must use it in order to dominate this bout. While Zulu needs to keep the fight in distance to be able to throw his own bombs to get the win. This will be close but I give it to Best via T/KO in second round.

Up next is BUZZ LIGHTBEAR (5-1) VS IZAAK WATERS (4-2)

Buzz Lightbear is a sub-specialist who takes his prey on the ground and constantly tries to make his opponents tap or nap, while Waters, an all around fighter who prefers stand-up which may be good or bad for him on this bout. Waters will surely have a hard time avoiding takedown attempts from Lightbear but he needs to keep this one standing to avoid the tap or nap. This one I will give to Lightbear via first round Tap or Nap.

The next fight will be a good crowd warmer before the two Title Fights, the fight is between MO LEE (9-1) VS PRINCE FUNKYAMA (6-1)

Both fighters’ lone loss came only from the 135 lb Champion Ricardo Ramirez, and both would want to add another one to each other. Mo Lee is looking for a shot at the 135 lb title while Funkyama wants to get another shot at it. Funkyama is a knockout artist who’s lone loss came in his last fight against the Champion Ramirez is looking to add Mo Lee in his knocked out victims which is now at six, while Lee, a seasoned fighter, with only three but nonetheless brutal T/KO’s wants to take his 3-fight winning streak on the line to become a worthy title contender, his last fight against the former Champion Hindu Kush proved that he’s ready for a shot at the Title. This is going to be a standup war, Lee will need to calm Funkyama’s fist but with Funkyama’s killing instinct probably kicking in early on in the round he can possibly win this one via first round T/KO.

And for our CO-MAIN EVENT, fighting for the 170 LB Title, WILLIAM DOS SANTOS (9-2) VS XAVIER STYLES (8-2-1)

This is a title rematch where Styles is looking to regain his title back after losing it via decision against Dos Santos. Last fight, both fighters stand and bang at each other which earned them the Fight of the Night award, this time Styles needs to use his BJJ Black Belt in his advantage just like how he did in his last two wins. Meanwhile Dos Santos, the Champion, will surely come prepared on anything that his challenger will give him and will look to defend his crown for the third straight time. This will be another FIGHT OF THE NIGHT contender which can go either way as the two are very evenly matched on their strengths. But I will give this one to the Champion via Decision.

For our MAIN EVENT for the 265 LB Title between the CHAMPION, RICK RUDE (8-3) VS NATHAN SPEED (8-1)

For our Main Event, both guys are evenly matched on their feet, although Speed, the contender who is also a former champion, has a huge advantage on Muay Thai as well as on Jiu Jitsu. Speed, a Former Champ looking for his second belt, is only on his second stint in Eternal Rivals but has proven himself on the octagon. Currently on a six-fight winning streak, his only loss came off via decision in his young career. If Speed tries to take this fight on the ground, which he rarely does, the Champ might be having some serious problems who is only a BJJ white belter. But the Champ will be making use of his Exceptional Wrestling to avoid problems on the ground. Look for Rude to stand and bang against the Contender where he shines and will be looking forward for his first ever title defense and his 8th T/KO Win. This one will surely end in a very exciting exchange of bombs, and I will be giving this one to the Contender Nathan Speed via T/KO.

And that’s it for the pre-Fight Show of Rivals XLV: Rude VS Speed. Look forward for our Post-Fight Show where we will be having a Special Guest who will help me breakdown the fights, Rivals’ own Former 205 lb Champion Siegfried Freak who will be taking another shot at it on the 1st of September against Dongmin Oh. For ETERNAL RIVALS, where deadly warriors gather to test their might and walk away with ultimate title and gladiator's pride, this has been Blitz Kriegg saying “FIGHT for the right TO STAY ALIVE.”
