Ascension 3 Million Tourney Round Semi Finals Preview

Event Preview: Ascension 3 MIL Semis

After another hiatus due to job shit and moving to school for the fall yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah who really gives a fuck? What you guys want to know is the fights tonight with the 3 million semifinals with the dark horse of the whole tournament and the boy of the owner, Marcus Crassus has somehow managed to make the semifinals and we have the current p4p king Victor Creed defending his Ascension strap against Sebastian Bantrell. Anyway let’s get to the fights!

Opening Prelim bout

Falco vs Crodonilson

Two of the very best featherweights in the world clash as our opening fight, a card that would be at least on the main card are opening this super card that Dean Sutherland put together for all you crazies out there. Falco is very much a grinder with a vast majority of his victories coming by way of decision; Crodonilson on the other hand has more than half his career victories by way of TKO or KO. Falco enters the cage with elite boxing, exceptional muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj purple belt. Opposing him is Crodonilson with his exceptional boxing, sensational muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Crodonilson has been more durable over his career with only being finished once and that was by submission, while on the other hand, Falco has been finished 5 times in his career and 4 of those by way of TKO. I think that Crodonilson (which is a fucking annoying name to type) will make that number go up to 5.

Hendry vs Raiden

Two long time stalwarts with great chins and just durability in general. Both these fighters have been there with who’s who of the lightweight division. Hendry has shown a talent to out preform his primaries time and time again, while Raiden has had no issues preforming up to his skill level or even beyond it from time to time. The power may favor Hendry based on the % he has for his TKO wins out of his total fights but the actual amount of TKO wins between the two is virtually the same, it just took Raiden a lot more fights to get there. However, I don't see either of these fighters getting a TKO here. Hendry enters the cage with exceptional boxing, strong MT, remarkable wrestling, and a bjj purple belt. Opposing him is Raiden with his elite boxing, sensational muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj purple belt. I don't count Hendry completely out in this fight, but I am going with my man Lord Rayden to slider his guy to a close decision victory.

Cruz vs Dalis

The Haitian Horror has been on a bit of a slump of late dropping 3 of his last 5 fights while Dalis has won 3 of his last 5. Neither fighter been on a good streak of late and looking to put together some wins to work their way up the division. Cruz enters the cage with sensational boxing, exceptional muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj black belt. Opposing him is Dalis with exceptional boxing and muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj brown belt. In the power department Cruz has a big time edge with 11 TKO wins in his career to Dalis’ 3 career TKO wins but Dalis does have 9 submission wins to his credit. But I doubt anyone will get subbed or KO’d in this fight. Dalis has only been finished once in his career and that was by submission. I think Cruz is going to outwork Dalis in his route to a decision win.

Featured Prelim Bout

Diaby vs Royer

We have an interesting match to close out our undercard here with Diaby and Royer. Diaby is a boxer with a very good ground game but limited muay thai skills while Royer is a striker with limited ground skills. This fight is dependent on Royer’s power to try and separate Diaby’s chin from his body before he ends up on his hiney. Diaby enters the cage with sensational boxing, strong muay thai, elite wrestling and a bjj black belt. Opposing him is Royer with exceptional boxing, sensational muay thai, superb wrestling and a bjj purple belt. From looking at the skills, it’s going to come down to which primary difference comes into play first; Royer’s MT or Diaby’s wrestling. Diaby can finish the fight however he chooses on the ground with 7 TKO wins and 5 submission victories in his career. Royer is going to need that power of his to career the day with his career 19 TKO wins. A TKO win isn’t out of the question for Royer however, I think Diaby’s wrestling will be too much as Diaby will take him down and work his way into a dominant position and rain down blows from every direction to get the stoppage.

Main Card Opening Bout

Sheet vs Rei

We take a break from all dem skilled fightin’ dudes and go back to da good ol’ days with specialists and crazy folk. This fight doesn’t need a break down. Boxing versus dat Muay thai shit. Who will win? The fans that’s who.

Perry vs Crassus

And now it’s time for the semifinals of the 3 million dollar tourney between Lee Perry, who upset my personal tournament favorite going in Benoit against the fighter who eliminated my guy in the first round, and Marcus Crassus. In the opening round Lee Perry took down Jeremy Tonal, widely considered the best fighter in game history, by unanimous decision. In the second round, Perry took down Kurokawa Kenji by a very close split decision, one of the more questionable fights in the tournament by Perry moved on regardless. And in the quarterfinals, Perry finished Mathieu Beniot by TKO late in the final round. Marcus Crassus on the other hand, started his tournament with a decision win over my long time project Victor Kafka (who still sucks something hardcore) by decision. In the next round, Crassus beat the odds and took down Atlister The Demon by unanimous decision as well before submitting Degen Gambler by triangle armbar in the quarterfinals. Now to the skills, Perry enters the cage with sensational boxing, exceptional muay thai, elite wrestling and a bjj black belt. Opposing him is Crassus with exceptional boxing and muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj brown belt.  Crassus has been the smaller man in almost every one of his fights in this tournament and he will be again as well as a slight underdog in the betting I would guess. This is going to be a very tough fight to call; if Crassus can maintain top position as well as keep the striking close I can see him advancing to the final. However, if Perry’s take downs are more effective and his striking is superior I see an easy decision win or a late TKO victory in this one. I am going to go with my gut on this one and go against the grain and pick Crassus to pull off one more upset and advance to the final.

Drezner vs Dawkins

Lightweight Title fight

Drezner, with Garcia Jr no longer in his way, looks to gain Ascension gold that Dawkins won off of Garcia two fights ago for him. Drezner has been running roughshod over the lightweight division but always fell short against Garcia Jr for some reason. Maybe he can pull of a W here tonight? We will certainly be watching to see. Drezner enters the cage with sensational boxing, elite muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj black belt. Opposing him is Dawkins, the current lightweight king of Ascension with his sensational boxing and muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt he is a formidable opponent to Drezner’s dreams of holding the lightweight strap here in Ascension. Drezner has a considerable amount of power for the lightweight division with 14 of his career 24 victories coming by way of TKO. However, his bjj black belt seems more for support to his wrestling than to actually finish fights as he has never submitted an opponent. Dawkins has to favorite method of winning he has 6 TKO wins, 9 submission wins and 4 decision wins. However, Dawkins has been finished once by strikes and once by submission while Drezner has never been finished as all of his defeats have come by way of decision. I think Drezner will get that elusive strap with a late round TKO victory.

Featured Main Card Bout

al Din vs Batts

Now it’s time for the other semifinal of the Ascension 3 million dollar tournament between long time Chris Karter fighter Taj al Din and Billy Batts. al Din had an eventful road to the semifinals here tonight opening the tournament against LeRoy LeBlanc with a decision victory before dispatching Ricardo Santiago and Budo Rei by KO (Punch) both in the first round of their respective fights. Billy Batts who has changed management 3 times in his career, twice being managed by Chris Karter and currently under the direction of Soyster Eighty-Nine. Billy Batts took down Carlos Rivera in the opening round with a unanimous decision victory. In the second round, he beat Tyler Norton by unanimous decision as well before winning by KO (Strikes) in the quarterfinals against Gristle McThornbody. Both these fighters are big time power strikers with exactly 30 T(KO) wins in their combined careers to only 12 decision victories. These sluggers are going to come out swinging and will definitely put on a show for the fans. al Din enters the cage with elite boxing and muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Billy Batts with sensational boxing, elite muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt as well. I hold no illusions that this fight will spend a significant amount of time on the ground. This fight will be decided on the feet. Batts has never been finished by strikes and al Din has only been finished once by strikes in his career. As much as I want to say this fight will end in the finish I don’t think so unless it is in the 4th or 5th round. My gut says al Din will advance to the final to face my earlier pick of Marcus Crassus.

Co Main Event

Behnder vs Bingham

Back to the realm of the olden days of not so talented fightin’ folk who just love to punch people in the face while dry humping them. Both these fighters are grapplers by trade and probably won’t spend a significant amount of time on the feet in my personal opinion. Behnder has no striking worth mentioning in addition to his remarkable wrestling and a bjj purple belt. Opposing him is Bingham who has some striking but not much with his competent boxing, woeful muay thai, remarkable wrestling and a bjj purple belt. With a combined 28 finishes and only one decision win between these two fighters there is a very good chance in our co main event tonight will end in someone getting finished. I honestly can’t say who that will be because this fight is really close. But if I have to pick it will be Bingham.

Main Event

Heavyweight Title Fight

Creed vs Bantrell

Both these fighters subscribe to the magazine know as, hit hard, hit first. With 35 out of their 38 combined wins coming by way of T(KO) these fighters do not mess around. They come out looking to take your fucking head off…..literally. Creed is looking to make his 3rd title defense and is currently riding an 8 fight winning streak with wins over the likes of S. Keletor, Merrimac Mjlonir, Evander Holyshit, and Oleg Karev. In his last appearance, Creed actually who by KO (Slam) so if dat don’t say how strong and powerful this mofo is I don’t know what will. Bantrell has lost twice to Mjolnir, but also holds his last two wins over Oleg Karev and Anton Chigurh, brief #1 p4p fighter. Creed enters the cage with elite boxing and muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj purple belt. Opposing him is Bantrell with elite boxing and muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. But I doubt this fight will need the ground as I fully expect this fight to be a slug fest from the opening bell to the final bell. I am (sadly) unable to pick any of Lance Templeton’s fighters even if I think they will win so I am going to pick Bantrell in this one…..I hope your happy Lance………

I WANT MO’ MONEY!!!!! Just kidding folks, there you guys have it, another great card put together by Dean Sutherland and the folks at Ascension.
