Highland Review - Week 2

Event Review: Highland 8
Highland

 Introduction

Our last weekly review went down well. Got some good mails about it and a few of you have been posting in the Smack Talk thread which I love to see. This week we've managed to have 3 straight events over a 70 rating. Highland 8 was the first event with a very solid profit, so we've paid off the initial loan and have LOADS of arenas booked and fight offers flying out. Some of those upcoming fights feature inaugural title shots as well, so we have an exciting couple of weeks ahead.

IXF has managed to go ahead of us in the Island rankings, but this was completely expected. Our strategy is to focus on those lower hype fighters and work on building loads of fighters up at the once, so it does take us a little bit of time to hit the ground running. Other orgs will focus on higher ratings at the start, while we're more of a long game kind of outfit.

The current gameplan is to get some champions sorted, start working towards filling out the Underground arena, getting the first set of renegotiations sorted and trying to get everyone as active as possible.

The Events

So alas, that brings us to the events themselves. At Highland 6, it was actually myself who reigned supreme in the main event. I don't know what alternate reality I'm living in where I'm winning main event fights, but I'll take it. Shug Skinner (2-0) managed to go through Rory Gracie (1-1) with his strong clinch game. The timing of this worked perfectly as Highland 8 featured another Welterweight bout between Maurice Tillet (3-0) and Tam Calderwood (3-1), with the former winning in destructive fashion. With the ground work laid, Skinner and Tillet will now compete for the first ever Highland Welterweight Title at Highland 16.

Another title fight build from the past week is Jovan Markelic (3-0) against Cathair McKay (3-0) in the Middleweight division. Jovan went through Dalton Dekker (1-1) at Highland 6, while Cathair went the distance with Island Guy (2-1) at the next event. This fight will main event Highland 14.

Some other performances needing to be pointed out include Needle Dick (3-0) who harnessed the power of 1000 micrometers to take out Captain Chaos (2-1). It's now expected that the man with no girth will fight for the inaugural Heavyweight Championship. Sean Martin (2-0) head kicked his way to bonus money against Mike Cozad (1-1), but Apollo Turner (1-2) might feel slighted as he needed just 5 seconds to knock out Kim Tae Won Lumihi (0-3).

Outro

That manager history section took WAY longer than I expected, so enjoy it!!! Haha. I also feel that it's important to say that my massively impressive managerial history isn't massively impressive at all. I created and trained basically none of those guys. Most of them were just me saving already established HG fighters before promptly running them into the ground! But it's fantastic to get to add that Power Shark resume. One of the greatest we've ever had.

Thanks for reading as always. We have some big weeks coming ahead as we start to crown our new champions so be on the lookout. You'll likely see from above that that we haven't actually had a lot of champions over the years. 105 champions were crowned across 4 organisations and a 2 year span with probably thousands of fighters involved.

More will be added in the very near future.

STAY LOCKED IN!
