VFW 1: Insane Beginnings Preview

Event Preview: VFW 1: Insane Beginnings
Vegas Fight World
2012-08-30, Las Vegas, Micro Arena - Las Vegas
Author:Eddie Grant

The first VFW card is only a couple of days away, and we have a great card ahead of you!

The card is highlighted by 2 matches to define the first 2 challengers for the VFW 185lbs championship, hopefully held at VFW 2 next week.

Main Event - 185lbs Tournament - Maykel Awang Bang vs Anti Satosari
The first main event in VFW history will be between two very worthy contenders in the 185lbs division, as the Cuban Awang Bang takes on Satosari from Finland, a fight I can't see going to the ground, as neither man have any kind of an advantage there. Satosari has a great boxing game and will look to keep this fight on the outside, while Awang Bang will look to clinch and win the fight with his superior Muay Thai skills. Prediction: Satosari by (T)KO

Co-main event - 265lbs - Britt Bolton vs Vartan Vartanyan
Two heavyweight prospects face off in the co-main event, trying to make a name for themselves on the first VFW card, in a fight that will be hard to call, standing up, neither man has a clear advantage, where Bolton is an extremely good boxer, Vartanyan has the advantage when it comes to muay thai. If it goes down to the floor, Vartan has a slight advantage as a wrestler, but Bolton should have enough BJJ skills to win it there.
Prediction: Bolton by submission

185lbs Tournament - Quik Yin vs Big John
In what was the first ever fight booked by the VFW, but since has been changed to a 5 round fight, as part of the 4 man tournament, Quik Yin and Big John face eachother in a very even matchup, their skills are pretty much identical on the ground, where both have superb wrestling and both are purple belts, this fight will be won on their feet, where John's boxing and especially his muay thai should win him the match.
Prediction: John by decision

265+lbs - Chung Chang vs Coen Romijn
Coen Romijn, a fighter I created 'cause I needed to fill this card and didn't have anymore SHWs on my roster, as the young man from Rotterdam makes his pro-debut against the 1-0 Chung Chang. Chang only needed 41 seconds in his first fight to submit his opponent by an armbar, and he's looking to do very much the same thing in this fight, as his brown belt far outshines Romijn's blue belt. Even in the stand up game his boxing game is more impressive than Romijn's Muay Thai.
Prediction: Chang by submission

205lbs - Jack Sparrow vs Steve Wayne
Jack Sparrow is set to make his pro debut here against Steve Wayne, who has a record of 1-1, who lost his debut, but won in his second attempt by TKO. Wayne's boxing and wrestling are quite superior and I expect him to get the victory here.
Prediction: Wayne by decision

265lbs - Erol Ottis vs Kenneth Shamrock
Did somebody say MISMATCH?! Debutant Kenneth Shamrock looks to shock the world, and Ottis when he tries to get the win over the 5-2 'veteran'. Perhaps Shamrock's only chance is to get the clinch in and hope he can somehow pull out the win that way.
Prediction: Ottis by submission

170lbs - PJ Denn vs Robert Safertin
Safertin, my second fighter that I used to fill up the card, goes into his pro debut against the 1-0 PJ Denn (sound familiar?) Denn has him outmatched pretty good, and I should have 2 losses on my record at the end of the night.
Prediction: Denn by (T)KO
