Bellicose 81 Preview

Event Preview: Bellicose 81
BELLICOSE (375+)
2022-03-20, New York, Hard Knocks - New York
Author:Outlaw Bleak

Greetings managers and fighters of Bellicose!  It's an honor to be here today to do our first official preview as new ownership of the greatest damned org around!  Coming at you from the Hard Knocks arena in New York, Bellicose presents - Bellicose 81 (Mfer vs Koumanen)!

This is the beginning of a new era for Bellicose and what a card to kick things off.  When two big men, and I do mean big ass men, step into the cage with a title on the line, you know there's going to be fireworks!  And that's just the night cap!  This card has several great fights lined up from 185 on up!  No little boys fighting tonight, just men and monsters and tonight we'll find out who's who!

With that, let's go ahead and jump into the action...

Undercard:

Frank Mir (5-7)  vs  Andre Koefti (0-0)

Did I say fireworks?  Well, we'll get to those later.. this match is just to kick things off as we have Mir who though he has 5 wins in his career, he's  0-4 since joining Bellicose taking on a newcomer to the sport making his Bellicose and MMA debut.  Mir is prety much what you can call a competent fighter across the board though he does boast a brown belt in BJJ.  At 28 years old, I'm not sure he'll continue to get much better in his art, but perhaps if he hones in on that BJJ he can win a few fights here in Bellicose.  His opponent is a relative unknown.  He's never stepped foot in a cage before and appears to be the opposite style fighter of Mir.  Koefti is a proficient boxer but has some exceptional Muay Thai skills.  He's not much of a grappler though he does hold a blue belt in BJJ.  At only 21 years of age, he's still got plenty of room to grow and tonight could just be the start of things to come for Koefti.  So no doubt he'll want to make his mark and show the world who he is.

Outlaw's Pick - Koefti wins via TKO.

Chris Bibi (4-3)  vs  Shapy Shifty (1-2)

Since joining Bellicose, these two fighters are pretty close in their feats and defeats.  While Bibi is 1-1 under the Bellicose brand, Shifter is 1-2 having only fought here.  Now, prior to joining Bellicose, Bibi was a semi-finalist in a QFC tournament, but he's been about a .500 fighter since going pro.  He brings a strong wrestling game to the cage but has also dabbled in boxing which he has used to his advantage with some of those TKO victories.  He's shown to have a good chin even though he's been on the wrong end of a TKO in his last fight.  If history is any indication, he'll find a way to pull off the win tonight and keep up that pattern.  But, patterns are not something that a Shape Shifter tends to like, and Shapy Shifty will be no different.  He's going to look to build off his last win over Scardina and make it 2 in a row to bring his record up to even.  He's got the skills to do it as he matches up pretty well with Bibi in wrestling and has and advantage over him otherwise in every area.  If Shifty is as shifty as he claims, he should be able to find a way to get this fight on the ground and use his brown belt BJJ to put in the work and get this victory.

Outlaw's  Pick - Shifty wins via submission.

Big "Papa" Joe (0-1)  vs  Dave "Da Giant" DeMartin (3-2)

It's a heavyweight showdown between Big Papa and Da Giant!  I expect a broken cage needing to be repaired by the end with names like that guys!  Joe will be making his Bellicose debut tonight as he brings his well balanced skillset in to face DeMartin.  Having a balanced skill set is a great thing, eventually.. but in these early days of ones career, most find that having a specific skill set to lean on tends to work best.  Maybe Big Joe will prove me wrong, his manager is a seasoned veteran so who am I to question is methods?  His opponent, DeMartin is 2-2 since joining Bellicose and is a few years the elder of Joe.  He's a Muay Thai striker and clinch fighter who uses his Muay Thai and Wrestling to control fights.  If he's able to control the clinch and overpower his opponent, he tends to have his way with them.  Not leaving anything to the judges, he's a finish or be finished fighter who puts it all on the line every time he steps into the cage.  His skills will match up well against Big Joe, but look for Joe to avoid the clinch and try to dance around him and score some points.  If Joe could get it to the ground, he may have the advantage he needs pending his offensive capabilities there.  This fight could go either way, really just depends on tactical approach for each guy.

Outlaw's Pick - Big Joe wins via submission

Nuufo "Soul Breaker" Seanoa (2-2)  vs  Nog Onbekend C (3-2)

I should just say Nuufo will win and walk away just based on the ink that man has!  If you have any clue what method those Samoans use for their tattoos, then you would know that they never shy away from pain.  Seanoa is 2-1 since joining Bellicose and has been steadily building up his arsenal of weapons over his career.  He's an exceptional striker and his wrestling is no joke either.  He's even worked up himself a purple belt in BJJ to round out his game.  He prefers to strike as is evident by both of his victories ending via KO's, the hard hitting Samoan will be looking to lay down the hammer again as he steps into the cage tonight against Nog Onbekend.   Where Seanoa is coming off back to back wins, Nog will be looking to bounce back from a recent loss.  He's 2-2 in Bellicose to date, and would love to get back into the W column.  he should match up well against Seanoa as he is a very good striker himself.  He prefers more of a boxing style to Seanoa's MT, but they are very similar in overall skill set.  Nog has no BJJ skills to speak of, so that could be a small advantage for Seanoa, but there's no evidence that Seanoa has anything but defensive skills on the ground.  This fight could go either way, as they say.  A striker's punch can end the fight in a flash, and both of these guys are more than capable of it.  This will be more of a manager vs manager and both of these managers are good at what they do.  The only thing I know for sure is that this fight will be a strikers duel and I can't see it not ending with a KO.

Outlaw's Pick - Seanoa wins via TKO

Vitor Almeida (3-1)  vs  Buster "The Clubber" Glover (4-1)

Wow, what a fight this should be.  Almeida is 3-0 since joining Bellicose and has walked through every opponent put in front of him.  He's a beast on his feat with absolutely devastating striking skills that he's put to good use in his career so far.  He's not let any opponent out of the first round and no doubt will continue to be an aggressive finisher moving forward.  His opponent is 3-1 since joining Bellicose having only lost to the current champ, Sawamura.  Things don't get any easier as in order to get back to title contention you have to beat the best.  And right now, it looks like one of these two men will be moving on to a title fight in the near future.  I haven't looked over the rankings enough to know that is for sure the next move, but logic says it's at the least, very close.  This is most likely a contender fight, or at least lining up the next contender fight.  Glover is a great striker himself, but not quite on the level of Almeida.  This will be an uphill battle for him but they do match up pretty well overall.  Both of these fighters have a ton of heart and each have shown the KO power.  This will be a matter of who has the better game plan or who lands the first big shot that rocks his opponent.  This fight could be over in a minute, or could it be the first fight either fighter has taken into the later round?  You'll have to tune in to see as I surely will since I have a vested interest in this one.

Outlaw's Pick - Almeida wins via TKO

Leonid "The Lion" Zakharov (3-1)  vs  Arthur "The Hound" Douglas (4-2)

What in the 9 hells type of steroids is Zakharov using?  His muscles have muscles with little pimples that have muscles on them.. I bet he could crack a walnut between his pecs!  I guess he'll need to if he's gonna be facing the hound.  But, we don't allow swords here so this should be a pretty fair fight.  Zakharov is 2-1 since joining Bellicose and I promise he's not too happy about suffering his first loss in his last outing.  I wouldn't be surprised if that loss is what set Russia off and lead to the invasion..  He's a sensational boxer who knows his way around the MT arts as well, and don't overlook his wrestling skills.  This man is a machine, make no mistake.  His opponent, Douglas, is also 2-1 since joining Bellicose.  He suffered a loss to Clarke via decision that he was able to bounce back from in KO fashion last time out against Mir.   He matches up pretty well across the board to Zakharov but does give up the slightest of edge in both boxing and wrestling to the Russian Lion.  What makes this fight ever more difficult to call is that both managers are very good at what they do and making solid game plans.  No doubt this fight will be fire and I can't wait to see the results.  I am pretty sure that this fight will end in a KO of sorts though.. both guys have obvious striking power.

Outlaw's Pick - Zakharov wins via TKO

Lewis Clarke (4-0)  vs  Chris "CT" Tamburello (5-5)

Another great match and another for team Bob Hq on the card.  Clarke is 3-0 in Bellicose and has yet to taste defeat.  I may be putting words in his mouth, but he has no plan on learning that taste tonight either.  He's taken out some great competition recently and looks very able to make it 5-0.  He's a sensational striker using both boxing and MT skills to beat down his opponents with a strong wrestling background to ensure the fight stays where he wants it.  He's a young up and coming talent that is riding the fast lane towards title contention.  His opponent, CT, will be making his Bellicose debut.  He does have 5 wins under his belt but also has 4 losses peppered in there.  No doubt when you've been fighting this much your training takes a hit, so now that he's in  a solid org he'll be able to settle down into a more steady regime.  His morale is a little off, but probably because of how much fighting he's been doing and not taking time off to recover and train properly.  He has a very solid skillset matching up fairly well with Clarke, but the lack of extra training time keeps his boxing from being as sharp as Clarkes.  They match up very well otherwise so CT definitely has a shot.  But in the end, I think Clarke is just going to be too much to handle.

Outlaw's Pick - Clarke wins via Decision

Connor McAtee (4-2)  vs  John "Whitey" Brown (6-2)

McAtee is 2-1 since joining Bellicose, and after a rough split decision loss in his Bellicose debut has come back with a vengence winning two in a row.   He's a striker who leans on his boxing expertise and boasts a granite chin.  Jury is still out on his power as he does have some TKO victories under his belt, he's not really shown the 1 punch KO power yet and has taken a couple of fights to the judges.  His opponent, Brown, is a more seasoned veteran at 28 years of age and is 2-2 since joining Bellicose.  He's more of a grappler giving up the edge in the stand up game, but still able to hold his own.  He is a wonderful wrestling but really stands apart from McAtee with is brown belt in BJJ.  No doubt McAtee will need to stay away from the ground here as he could be in real trouble against Brown if they go down town.  The one downfall I see with brown,  even though it hasn't come through in the cage yet, is he is a bleeder.  He has a tendancy to cut and that could be a weakness that McAtee looks to expose.  Brown may be one of, if not the best 25 year old creation in the org.  Very few can develop a well rounded skill set like he did which is truly amazing.  Everything I see on paper tells me to lean towards him winning this fight.  But I tend to go against the grain a lot...

Outlaw's Pick -  McAtee wins via TKO

Co-Main Event

Booger "Eater" Magee (5-8)  vs  Nikita Yashin (6-4)

Ok what in the 9 hells... we don't allow booger eating inside the cage at Bellicose, so keep that shit out of the cage!  This is Magee's first Bellicose fight so had to make sure he was aware of the rules.  Now Magee had a very rough patch to start his career.  He looked like a bum with a glass jaw and hollow heart.  But his last 3 fights he managed to turn things around winning 3 strait fights.  from a 2-8 start to a 3-0 turnaround is really quit something.  He's an older fighter at 27 who focuses on boxing and has dabbled in BJJ to the tune of a purple belt.  But he's really turned on the heat in these last 3 fights using his boxing to the tune of 3 strait finishes.  If he can keep that up, he may send Nikita night night.

Yashin is also coming off 3 strait victories, the last of which was at Outlaw.  That gives you brownie points in my book!  He's a very similar fighter to Magee giving up just the slightest of edge to the booger eater in boxing, but makes up for it with a strong background in wrestling.  Kind of reminds me of a Randy Couture dirty boxer build.  Yashin will also be making his Bellicose debut and this bout should be fire, ladies and gentlemen!  One of these men will walk away with a lady in each arm and a smile on his face while the other will be helped out of the cage by the medical staff.  Who is who?  You'll have to see for yourself tonight!

Muchacho's Take -

Journeyman Booger Magee - who's parents obviously never liked him thus naming him after snot - is one of those fighters who is guaranteed to bring the hype to the cage that night. An all or none kind of fighting style  where he prefers to keep in simple by throwing heat.  He's not interested in a takedown.  He's not interested in rolling.  Dude is here to kill or be killed.  Gotta love a man with that philosophy.  Across from him will be Nikita Yashin - who by all accounts does not eat his own refuse like his opponent.  Nikita has one priority in the cage and that is to use his lunch boxes he calls fists into his opponent's face.  Period.  End of Story.  No kicks, not a knee in sight, and god hates jits.  Nikita is a simple killer but just that - an absolute killer. Booger better bring some magic in those hands because his only advantage on paper is his Boxing so you know he will be leaning hard on finishing the fight quickly.  Both warrior's spirits in this matchup will guarantee a good show.

Well Sonny, I have to agree that anyone who names their kid Booger either didn't want them or was setting them up to get bullied and turn them into mean sons of bitches..  I do think you're right with the fighting styles of these two warriors, we can surely expect fireworks.  These guys will bring it, and bring it hard.
Outlaw's Pick - Yashin wins via TKO
