 BFT 134 Review

Heavyweight - "Demolition Man" Alistair Overeem technically knocked out "The Butcher" Yama Lakes with a cut at 1:30 in round 1.

And the "Demolition Man" Strikes again. He quickly brought things into the clinch, and once that started, his elbows took over. it only took 3 solid elbow strikes to put Lakes away. Nice work.

Light Heavyweight - Paul Baksteen knocked out Kobe "Black Mambo" Brian with strikes in 17 seconds in round 2.

In the first round, Baksteen started off without a hitch. He was bring the more agressive fighter for sure. But as the round went on, Brian became more and more forceful. Even though he landed less, he sure as hell went all out trying to get it. I mean he threw a TON of head kicks. It's hard to say who I would give the round to. I suppose that Brian was the more agressive for the most part of the round and would take it. The second round had Brain shoot for more hits, but his agression was his downfall. Baksteen was able to time Kobe and drop a 1-2 on him and that was the beginning of the end for Brian.

Light Heavyweight - Titus "Tko" Kahoohalphala submitted Tommy "The Machine" Gunn with strikes at 4:33 in round 1.

The fight started with a strong takedown attempt from "Tko." After that, it was the end for Gunn. Titus was pouring on the ground and pound. Gunn was moving around looking for a way out, but it was futile. He just put more and more leather in Tommy's face until the ref had to jump in.

Co-Main - Lightweight - Suchart "Fishbowl" Chaowanungkarn Unanimous Decisioned "The Meatman 2.0" Derek Scully.

And now we get to the only decision on the card. But it was a phenominal one. The first round was a dominant one for Scully. He took things down right away and got to work. The ref had enough mid way through, but Scully was not done. He brought things back down to the ground and worked away at "Fishbowl." He was trying hard and dropped back for a leg right at the end of the round in a final gesture to try and finish it, but it wasn't enough. In the second round, "Fishbowl" got off to a much better start. Scully, recognizing this, wanted to show him he can still control like he did last round and took things down. But that didn't last long, and "Fishbowl" made him pay for it. And even though Scully got a takedown again at the end, "Fishbowl" punished "The Meatman 2.0" far too much to give him the round. In the final round, you could easily tell that Scully was tired. He did not score a single takedown in the entire round. And where he failed to press his game on "Fishbowl", "Fishbowl" was able to press his game upon Scully. He threw everything he could at the distance and in the clinch, and did what he needed to do. He tried for the finish, but at the end of the day, he still walked out with the 'W.'

Main Event - Lightweight - Jonathan "Genocide" Briggs knocked out Johnny Woo at 3:27 in round 3.

Man, oh man. The round started and it looked like Woo was going to be a terrifying force in the fight. He got the take down in the beginning, and from there he got to work. He sat on top of briggs, throwing in some solid ground and pound shots, while looking for submissions to finish it. There as a little back and forth, some rolling around, but at the end Woo was doing more on the ground. The second round looked a lot like the first... but there was something off about it. It was Briggs who was on top there. And he looked a lot more determined to get a finish. Again, there was a lot of rolling around and back and forth action going on, but Briggs brought it to this round and ran away with it. The final stintwas a lot like the 2nd. But early on Woo brought the fight back up, and it looked like Briggs smelt blood after that. He just turned the dial up to eleven and just pushed it until he dropped enough ground and pound to have the ref jump in there and end things.
