CFC New Years Eve Event Preview

Ladies and Gentlemen, CFC is making their way back to sunny California for a double dip of fights as we open up the LA Memorial Colossuseum once again.  Tonight once again the stars of tomorrow give way to some of the games top performers and a couple of those damn filler fights that I feel are so bloody detrimental to the game, I mean why take the spot of someone who could really make a name for themselves on the grand stage, who cares if it was last minute!!  Last weekend was a total success even if the company lost their shirt, this weekend is expected to be no different as upwards of 93,000 rabid Canadian fight fans have migrated to Hollywood  to witness another showcase of top end talent and those looking to be the future that 390K has to offer on CFC New Years Eve.    As always make sure you run down to PWNAGE™ located on the Los Angeles stop of the High Street for all your Fighters clothing needs and to fulfill their supplement needs there is no better place than White Gorilla located right here in Montreal! For those who enjoy putting their money where their mouths are, pop on over to 2 Headed Betting to place your wagers on your favorite CFC fighters as all are set for this event while you still can, many already have, many more will join them and for sure I know I will!!

Main Event - 145 lbs Aiko San vs Antonio Tarver

Our Main Event of CFC New Years Eve sees a pair midgets in the top spot with both fighters combining for a total of 33 victories against only 5 defeats thus far in their careers.  This is your classic striker versus grappler matchup as San brings his Exceptional Muay Thai skill set in to face off against BJJ Black belt practitioner Tarver.  San appeared on our CFC Christmas card and had an astounding comeback after being controlled for the first 10 minutes on the ground, it seemed as if he was on his way to a disappointing UD defeat however his instincts kicked in in round number three and then his hands took over and before the one minute mark he had ended the night in monster fashion.   Tarver on the other hand is on a brief loan from Highland and has been on quite the roll since being taken over by new management having won his last 7 consecutive fights, 6 of which with his current puppet master including Highland gold which he has defended on numerous occasions.    Tarver is a highlight reel all to himself having taken home Of the Night awards 7 times in his career and tonight he will no doubt be looking to add to that total.  San is predominantly a Muay Thai fighter however he is not afraid to stand and bang as his 5 career standing knockouts show, and much like Tarver he is another Of the Night hound having collected his own 5 over his career.  His only downfall may be with his ability to keep the fight standing as he has failed to stop takedown attempts almost 50% of the time at range however if the last fight was any indication that only serves to fire him up.  Tarver does not possess amazing takedowns himself having only succeeded 11 percent of the time during his career standing but his 31 percent success rating within the clinch could be the undoing of San tonight as we are sure that's exactly where he wants to take this one.  This one has Fight of the Night written all over it and I for one cant wait to see it play out!

Co-Main Event - 185 lbs Manny Johnson vs Darwin Zambrano

Our Co Main Event is a clash of Middleweights who seem very evenly matched with both looking to continue with their winning ways.  Johnson is enjoying a three fight win streak as he makes his one time stop in CFC to take on Sucker Punch veteran Zambrano who is on his own four fight win streak.   Both fighters feature Elite level Standup and Wrasslin abilities with the only advantage in this one going to Zambrano who holds a BJJ Black belt ahead of Johnson’s BJJ Brown belt.  Johnson seems to possess a lack of power in his hands given his 22 decision victories over only 4 TKO’s with one surprise submission win mixed in whereas Zambrano seems more interested in going for it having only enjoyed one victory by way of judges decision.  Johnson is the older fighter and also the larger man as he holds an advantage in both height and weight over Zambrano but will that actually be to his advantage? Both fighters look to be heading into this one at just under the max 100% energy which could be the advantage Johnson needs to win the energy battle en route to a 23rd UD career victory.   I am giving the slight edge here in this one to PJ as he is as crafty as they come, plus he is my alliance mate so if I said otherwise he would kick my ass!!  Good luck to both participants, just more luck to Johnson!

205 lbs Silent Bob vs Robert Munson

Coming at us next we have a Light Heavyweight filler that eats at my very core everytime I see that low life drunk Louie book a joke of a fight like this, total waste of time only because he is a total failure and could not negotiate a real fight to fill this slot.

170 lbs Raphael Costeau vs Porthos Knox

Next we make a stop in the Welterweight division where we see a pair of equally skilled warriors however these combatants are on opposite ends of the rankings.   Costeau is an Elite level boxer with equally Elite level wrestling who seems to have had one too many drinks on the day he signed off on this matchup as it's what we call in the fight game all risk with no reward!  Facing off against him is Knox who is a retired sparring dummy having only competed a grand total of 3 times this calendar year representing the next wave from the Chikara MMA Gym in Amsterdam.  In his last trip to the cage he took advantage of some 18 year old newb who couldn't land a punch to save his life, good thing the promoter was kind and set it up as only a 3 minute fight, but what's glaring here is that Knox was able to land 12 solid shots to the dome of his opponent yet could not end him.  Costeau on the other hand will not lie down quite so easily for him as he will look to match up equally with Knox in his boxing and see his high output attack find success in reminding Knox why it is he had retired from active fighting so many moons ago.   Knox has absolutely nothing to lose tonight and because of that we expect him to come out all guns blazing however the skills that Costeau possesses might be just a little too much to handle.  I don't see a finish here in this one, its going to the judges score cards and who has their hand raised will certainly be decided early in this one, once the edge is taken I don't see it being given up.

170 lbs Fook Man vs Anakoni Kai

AGAIN!  What the hell is this clown doing, such a travesty to the game he should be shot!!  I will not waste another second on this damn write up. He has lost me such a selfish prick!
