Kung Fu Zombie

Fighter profile of Bong Ji Woo by Chris Karter

"Kung Fu Zombie" Bong Ji Woo (29-8-0) is an underground MMA fan favorite, one that's climbing the P4P rankings during his most recent run in the Combate lightweight division. He's currently set to compete in the upcoming Tycoon World Grappling Championships in the division 1. In the first round he will be facing the famous Albert Einstein. BJW was oozing with confidence ahead of his matchup.

"He has bigger brain, but I have bigger muscles." The Korean proclaims. "This is MMA. Not science fiction math. I will strangle him with his belt credentials and move on to the next round without breaking sweat."

BJW has a reason to be confident. He's coming off his most recent victory against former Combate featherweight champion Ademaro Dos Anjos (28-14-0). Bong Ji Woo firmly established himself as one of the better fighters on the planet at 155 pounds with that victory. It was a closely contested bout between two high caliber fighters that saw the Kung Fu Zombie get his hand raised - an impressive feat considering the bout took place in ADA's backyard of Brazil - but the victory officially crowned Bong Ji Woo the lightweight champion.

Bong Ji Woo is no stranger to championship gold. The former World Combat Federation champion and a former Tycoon World Grappling Champion, he's had a lot of success in 5 round fights. While no opponent is officially set in stone for BJW upon his return to Combate, fans are clamouring at all the possible matchups on the horizon.

Training out of Convicted Fight Club, Bong Ji Woo has been with the gym for as long as he can remember, making his professional MMA debut at 18 years old and lighting the regional circuit on fire before signing with the WCF organization. After getting eliminated in the first round of the MMA olympics, he signed with Combate and really struggled to get his footing underneath him, going 5-6 in his first 11 fights.

Since then he's rattled off 8 consecutive wins, springing to the #3 ranked LW on the planet. Defeating the likes of Ispa Perkele, Zee Land, Johnny Billabong, and most recently Ademaro Dos Anjos, BJW is riding the momentum of victory into the TWGC. Anything less than a gold medal would be a disappointment for the Jiu-Jitsu based fighter who considers himself one of the best grapplers in the game.
