Champ promises chaos: "Fight Like A Kamikaze Pilot"

Fighter profile of Ryoto Takahashi by Chris Karter

The WVT Lightweight champion has vowed to "fight like a kamikaze pilot" when he defends his title at WVT 137 on 7/29.

Set to make his 6th championship fight in a row under the World Vale Tudo organization, Convicted Fight Club's Ryoto "War Machine" Takahashi (25-8-0 MMA, 5-0 WVT) is scheduled to take on Finland's DaMatti Matikainen (17-5-0 MMA, 3-0 WVT) at WVT 137 inside the Tokyo Bowl. Takahashi is on record stating that he is coming for Alfred's VIP prizes and will put together a 10 fight win streak before retiring to a peaceful village in the Bahamas.

Born in Uji, Japan, the lightweight champion tells media that he is looking forward to fighting in front of his home crowd of Japan, and he considers it an honor to be able to compete inside the Tokyo Bowl every time he steps foot into that arena, something he's done numerous times over the years of his illustrious MMA career enroute to becoming one of the very best on the planet.

"The atmosphere. The support. I'm forever greatful for these opportunities." Takahashi states. "I will fight like a kamikaze pilot and do everything I can to secure the victory for my team, my countrymen, and my family. In this training camp no stone will be left unturned until I level up and am absolutely ready to defeat the Finnish invaders. It will be chaos inside the arena."

Takahashi has been on an asbolute tear since joining the WVT organization, and he has been nothing less than dominant, engaging in wild back and forth fights that have to be considered Fight of the Year material. He's earned 2 OTN bonuses from OTN Nazi Alfred Winterbottom. He's proven to be a comeback machine that never gives up, even when he's down on the cards or the fight isn't rolling his way.

"It's the heart of the Samurai spirit. The Japanese warrior. My opponent is skilled, but I must prove that I am better."

Standing across from him is Marky Mark's Finn-African sensation, DaMatti Matikainen, who trains out of the legendary Finnish camp FF Forever. DaMatti started his career out with Andrew Short and after going 3-1 as a professional he decided to move to the big league agencies and signed with Marky Mark and the Finnfighters. Much like Takahashi he started his career in a different weight class, DaMatti is a former ENIGMA featherweight champion but seems to really have found his stride in WVT's lightweight division, having gone on a 3-0 tear under their banner that has earned him a shot at the title and the #3 P4P fighter in all of the land.

MMA fans are in for a treat when these two top lightweights square off, and if you want to see it go down, make sure you tune in to WVT 137 at the end of the month.
