Before MMA:
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Randy started wrestling at a young age. He was never very athletic but he always had a lot of skill. Going into high school he was getting tired of wrestling, and started to box. As an amateur boxer, Randy went undefeated for his first six fights. But in his seventh fight, he was knocked out cold by a guy weighing only 106 pounds. Amazed by the young fighters speed, Randy thought he'd have better luck fighting in mixed martial arts against grapplers. Knowing that he had a good sprawl and hoping that he wouldn't be matched up with any serious strikers while he polished up his boxing, he made the transition into mixed martial arts at the age of 23. Most didn't think this was a good move, but Randy always follows his own rules.

Transition into MMA:
Now leaving his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Randy was on his way to Canada. Knowing that he had some gym time to put in before he hit the cage, he joined up with the Canadian Top Team gym in Montreal and booked his first amateur fight. Skip ahead 2 years later and Randy is now 6-3 as an amateur mixed martial artist. He lost his first 2 fights by submission, won his 3rd and 4th by knockout, lost his 5th by knockout and then went on to win 4 straight via decision before deciding to turn pro. He wants to put a little more time in the gym before his first professional fight, but once he's ready he'll take a QFC fight and if he wins that then he'll look for a contract.

Fighter Interview:
Tycoon Times Reporter Katie: Hello, this is Katie here with the Tycoon Times and I'm sitting down with our own special fighter, Randy "Tycoon" Times.
Katie: So Randy, how'd you get your nickname?
Randy: Ha Ha, I got it because I used to always read your paper while sitting on the toilet and I'd sit there for hours reading it. People used to always give me shit about it, but I didn't care. One day they realized Tycoon went well with my last name and from then on everyone called me Tycoon Times.
Katie: That's too funny, how is your training going so far?
Randy: Well, I just started training but so far it's gone well. There's a lot of guys to spar with at CTT so I should get some pretty good training while I work on my strength and flexibility.
Katie: How did the move from Columbus go?
Randy: It went good, to be honest I really couldn't wait to get out of there. It's pretty boring around there and I was tired of hearing about getting knocked out by the little guy in my last boxing fight.
Katie: So why do you think you'll succeed in MMA?
Randy: Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for mixed martial artists, but I think my boxing will be enough to carry me along for a while. I also have a decent sprawl, but that's something I also really need to improve on. It's not going to be easy, but I like all the different disciplines and I look forward to learning them.
Katie: When do you plan to fight?
Randy: As soon as I feel ready. I still have a lot of work to do before I'm ready though.
Katie: Well thanks a lot for sitting down with us today and good luck in MMA.
Randy: Thank you too, Katie. See you later!

What can you expect from Randy Times in the future?
I will be doing regular write-ups on Randy's fights and keeping you updated throughout his career, as long as I have the interest to do so. I will not be using any of my own managers money and I will be training in public gyms unless I get an offer from a private one (send it on over! ha-ha).
Hopefully he has good hiddens and isn't a complete idiot, but we won't know until he fights. If the slots aren't taken already, sponsors are always appreciated because as I said, I won't be funding him with my manager account. You will be mentioned every time I do a write-up on Randy while he is sponsored by your company.
