SOTF 10: King of the Cage Preview

Event Preview: SOTF 10: King of the Cage
Survival of the Fittest
2012-09-23, New York, Hard Knocks - New York
Author:Michel Sakr

Just one day after the groundbreaking SOTF 9, MMA’s fastest rising organization Survival of the Fittest, in association with our merchandise partners  Canadian Fighter Clothing, presents SOTF 10: King of the Cage, an event that will be held at the Hard Knocks arena in New York on Sunday the 23rd of September 2012. This will event will feature 10 exiting fights and will be headlined by the heavyweight bout between John Esposito and Bernard Blake.

Due to timing issues, I would like to apologize to you all for not being able to make a preview for every fight like I usually do, I will only be making previews for the last 4 fights on the card.

 Max Henderson v Jake Rosholt

In the middleweight division, 19 year old BJJ purple belt and New York’s own Max Henderson will be fighting for the time for the organization. After his tough loss on his debut against Henry Ballard at SOTF 4, he responded well in his next fight when he submitted Bob Swarley at SOTF 6, which is the same event where his opponent, 30 year old wonderful wrestler from Oklahoma Jake Rosholt, made his successful promotional debut beating Mark Silva. In a classical ‘’BJJ vs Wresting’’ matchup, which fighter will continue to climb the 185 ladder?

 Julio Silva v Azathoth Yog-Sothoth

We move down to the lightweights. After shocking the crowd in his victory over hot prospect Dmitry Petrenko at SOTF 4, 27 year old Brazilian wonderful wrestler and BJJ black belt is on a huge roll, and he is here to prove that he is the best lightweight in the organization. But to do so, he has to get past his Micronesian opponent, 28 year old superb Muay Thai fighter and BJJ purple belt Azathoth Yog-Sothoth who will be making his SOTF debut. While Silva earned 7 of his 11 career wins via submissions, his opponent has never been submitted before in his 15 professional bouts, and has earned 10 wins via (T)KOs.

  The Flash v Blaise Lamont

In the co-main event of the evening, We have a great welterweight battle.23 year old sensational Muay Thai fighter and exceptional wrestler The Flash will be gunning for his second SOTF win in as many fights, and after earning the award for ‘’fight of the night’’ for his win over Alexander Popov at SOTF 5, the fans in here already have fond memories of him. Meanwhile 27 year old sensational wrestler and exceptional boxer Blaise Lamont will be making his promotional debut. While things look dead even in the striking game, Lamont seems to have the advantage on the ground due to his superior wrestling and BJJ, which could set him as the slight favorite to win this one.

John Esposito v Bernard Blake

And what better way to end the night than in a heavyweight battle. Two heavy champions will collide in their respective SOTF debuts. 28 year old Australian sensational wrestler and boxer and BJJ black belt Bernard Blake is the former Boomerang heavyweight champion, and thanks his incredibly well-rounded game, it’s very difficult to get past him. On the other corner of the cage will be 33 year old elite boxer and sensational Muay Thai fighter John Esposito who amazingly got 18 of his 19 career wins via (T)KOs, with 5 ‘’KO of the night’’ awards! And he is also the former ECC multi-divisional champion, winning both the heavyweight and super-heavyweight belts. While Esposito is one of the best strikers in the world, Blake is the more well-rounded fighter and will have the advantage on the mat if he is able to take the fight there. We have a classical bout in our hand, who will win this one prove to be the superior heavyweight of the two?
