HMMA 37 Okamoto V Matsu Preview

Event Preview: hmma 37 okamoto v matsu
HEROIC
2012-10-20, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Weston Markson here, former HMMA Light heavy weight fighter, after a highly unsuccessful career of getting my arse kicked Mr. Thieatcres has requested my services giving my opinion on the HUGE card Saturday the 20th of October LIVE from the Camden conference center in London.   Every fight on this card could be a main event on a normal show, 4 of these fights are title fights,  and every HMMA champion will be fighting Saturday night.  I can’t wait to see the outcomes will all the champions retain their titles, or will new Heroes be crowned.

MAIN EVENT

Hatsu Matsu (11-3) v   "The Golden Saint" Takeo Okamoto  (10-0)              205 lbs title

The main event of the evening brings to us the UNDISPUTED, UNDFEATED,  the p4p best fighter in HMMA “The Golden Saint” Takeo Okamoto  as he puts his light heavyweight title on the line against his toughest test yet Hatsu Matsu.   Last time we saw Okamoto grace the HMMA cage he was getting his hand raised in a fight to determine the best fighter in HMMA, now he looks to defend his title 3rd time.   The division has been sorting itself out to find a new contender that can put a huge challenge to Okamoto, Matsu won out and is now the #1 contender, in just his second HMMA fight he was able to jump ahead of the competition by taking a fight with what was the man most considered to be the  #1 contender Jesus Rios,  after winning the fight it was announced he would get his shot to be the first to defeat “The Golden Saint”.  With both fighters having 9 wins each by (t)KO we could be instore for two guys looking to do whatever they can to secure there 10th knockout.  Who gets it will Matsu be the first to defeat Okamoto? Or will Okamoto’s reign continue and the legend grow?

Prediction:  The champ has been unstoppable until he loses I wont pick against him, I expect a hard fought decision win against what will turn out to be his toughest challenger yet.

CO-MAIN EVENT

Frank Wolfen (11-3)v "the Name is..." John Saunders  (11-0-2)  170 lbs title

For the first time since mid-July John Saunders enters the HMMA cage to defend his 170lbs title.   Since his last defense Saunders has been busy fighting two fights against the former lightweight champion, the first fight came out a draw, the second fight saw Saunders becoming the first man to hold TWO HMMA championships at the same time.  Still undefeated Saunders has been a wrecking machine taking it to his opponents and defeating them all.  While he was off pursuing more titles the welterweight division was finding itself a new contender a man worthy enough to grace the cage with a HoFer, when the dust settled Frank Wolfen emerged!  Saunders must be careful Wolfen is a huge threat to his championship reign.   Both fighters have proven they can win the tough fights whether they are the favorite or the underdog,  both fighters are well rounded we could see a true all around MMA fight in all areas.  Will Wolfen be the first to defeat Saunders or will Saunders magic continue?

Prediction:  Again I cant pick against the undefeated champion so ill take Saunders by decision, but I have a feeling we could see an upset here don’t be surprised if Wolfen walks out the new champion.

MAIN CARD

French Toast (12-2) v  Norman Steel (8-1)                             265 lbs title

>THE SEXIEST MAN in ALL of the World Norman Steel  is back once again to defend his title against the very man he took it from, let this be a lesson to all who lose their championship that with hard work and perseverance you could find yourself getting an opportunity to fight for the title again.   After two straight losses French Toast regained his mojo and put together two big wins and earning another shot at the champion.  This time the roles are reversed last time the hall of famer Toast found himself staring across the cage looking at Steel as the champion this time the challenger Toast will look to be the first HMMA fighter to defeat Steel, I expect a healthy dose of Toast’s legen….wait for it…………………..dary Ground and pound,  he hopes this time a different outcome.  Steel however knows how big of a threat Toast is, as last time they fought he was in some bad positions but was able to reverse and wound up on top when he was able to Cut Toast.  Since that time Steel has become the Cut machine winning two more fights by cut.   One thing is for sure as Steel enters the cage we will be looking to see if he has razor blades in his gloves.  Will Toast regain what was once his? Or will “the cut master” do it again and forge his own HoF HMMA career?

Prediction:   This is a fight that could very easily go either way with one or two small mistakes by either fighter.  Ill take Steel by TKO, 4th round.

"Timothy Of The Night" Timo Yo (11-5) v "Spoiled" John Kyle Romo   (16-4)

The next fight has title contender implications all over it, this could prove to be a big eliminator fight against two of the best welterweights HMMA has to offer.     Timo Yo and John Kyle Romo will look to battle inside the HMMA cage, this is Yo’s third fight for HMMA after two big wins he find himself in the upper echelon of the division welcoming John Kyle Romo who comes to HMMA with a lot of hype behind him will he live up to it?  Both fighters are going to be looking for a KO as 19 wins between the two of them have come by way of (t)KO.  This could very well be a fight about who connects first.  Who takes the next big step?

Prediction:  This is going to be a great fight, ill take Romo by (t)KO

James Charmicheal (13-5) v    Boing “777” Sparbot  (12-6-1) 185 lbs title

Next is the middle weight championship fight between champion Boing Sparbot, and challenger James Charmicheal.   After HoF Sparbot lost his championship by a close decision in July he came back with an impressive win  and then got his shot to redeem himself, in another close decision victory he came out top, now he has what was for long his and looks to make another run with the title.  Charmicheal is making his third appearance in the HMMA cage after defeating to game contenders he moved up to take on the champion.   21 of these two’s combined 25 victories have come by (t)KO, I expect this fight to be no different both of these guys will come out swinging to see who falls first.  Will Sparbot start another great run as the two time middleweight champion? Or will Charmicheal take the title and start his own?

Prediction:  I think sparbot wins by tko but its not going to be an easy fight.

"Jules"  Julian Casablancas (10-2) v  Lyov Kirijenko  (15-11)

Up next is a light heavyweight fight between two contenders in the division, Casablancas comes to the HMMA cage for the first time to take on Lyov Kirijenko who makes his second appearance inside the HMMA cage.  This fight could have future title implications on it as well.  Casablancas is well known for his striking ability, while Kirijenko is known for his GNP, both fighters tend to put there opponents to sleep even though they have different ways of doing so.  This is a fight I am very interested in, who moves closer to the top?

Prediction:  Casablancas by tko.

UNDERCARD

The undercard is also full of good fighters, it has two heavyweight fights against guys who are looking to move up in the division and challenge for the title, Bandeira Jr is ranked 7th in the division and was once the #1 contender, he will look to gain that back but Wheaton is looking great after a huge win recently he looks to build on that and move into the top 10 in the division.  It also has Oleg vs Retsu Oleg is the 10th ranked HW and looks to move up  on that, Retsu is on the outside of the top 10 but could find himself in the inside with a big win.  We also have Undefeated Welterweight Ronaldo Palhares looking to submit another great submission artist in Isaac Newton, that fight is going to be an awesome ground battle.  Also on the undercard is “The Easy Bake” Oven making his debut against former champion Lasi Kukko,  someone must be really high on George to give him such a big test right off the bat.

185 lbs                                  George "The Easy Bake"Oven (9-4-2) v  Lasi “The Draw” Kukko (23-11-2)

170 lbs                                 "Gravetinho" Ronaldo Palhares (6-0)  v  Isaac Newton   (10-2)

265 lbs                                  Jaykke Wheaton (8-8) v  Gabriel Bandeira Jr  (5-1)

265 lbs                                  Oleg Aschenbreaker  (24-19) v  Retsu Kaioh  (15-8)
