 Prelims

Middleweight Division: Dave Iverson v Bingo Steel

The opener of the night featured two evenly matched upstarts from the middleweight division. Iverson absolutely dominated this match with great ground work. The first round consisted of him holding the top position well and he displayed some BJJ prowess with a close submission attempt in the second. Steel held off all submission attempts well in the third round, but failed to really impose any real offense throughout the match.

Result: Iverson by Unanimous Decision

Light Heavyweight Division: LeeAnne Marie v Davor Langerholc

We saw Langerholc take this one to the cards with a dominate performance against Marie. The ADCC champion imposed his will by taking Marie down with ease throughout all 3 rounds. Marie showed some signs of life in the second round in a great clinch, but failed to land anything significant once inside. Langerholc scored another takedown in round 3 and was able to lay some nasty ground and pound while holding Marie down.

Result: Langerholc by Unanimous Decision

Light Heavyweight Division: Banka Jansson v Hakuma Hariyuoki

Banka Jansson had a terrible time trying to make weight. After initially coming in at 211.6, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. Stepping on the scales for a second time, he still failed to make the required weight and after much deliberation, his fight with Hakuma Hariyuoki was cancelled.

Result: No Contest

Welterweight Division: Dae Jung Pak v Artem Bessmertin

We saw a great battle in the last match of the prelims. Bessmertin conquered the first round by landing great blows to the head and body of Pak and even obtained a full mount after 4 minutes in the first round. We saw a similar story from Bessmertin as he easily moved into mount late in the round and absolutely rocked Pak. The bell saved him in the second round. Bessmertin proceeded to have a heyday against Pak by landing great kicks and scoring a mid-round takedown. Pak looked exhausted and wasn't able to accumulate any offensive momentum.

Result: Bessmartin by Unanimous Decision

 Main Card

Middleweight Division: Gerry Van Berry v Taisto Rahapussi

Berry dominated the 1st round of action as he took down Rahapussi with ease. Rahapussi attempted the triangle quite a few times throughout the round, but was never able to lock it in. Berry worked his top position well by landing decent elbows and advanced to half guard after 2 minutes of action. He scored a few more hammerfists and held Rahapussi down effectively the entire round.

We saw a similar story in round 2, but Rahapussi looked for the guillotine twice. Berry capitalized on an opportunity after the first minute and quickly locked in an Americana. Rahapussi didn't react quickly enough and tapped out.

Result: Van Berry by 2 round Submission (Americana)

Light Heavyweight Division: Robert Kawasaki v Brian Lancer

This was the most exciting (and quickest) knock out of the night. Lancer displayed some heavy hands as he cut his opponent early on and scored some great shots. He was able to land jabs, body shots, and hooks to the body of Kawasaki with ease. Kawasaki lunged in with swinging rights and lefts, but Lancer circled away quickly and effectively. The fighters circled around after another exchange and Lancer landed a brutal uppercut. The referee jumped in as Kawasaki fell to the ground.

Result: Lancer by 1st round TKO (Strikes)

Bantamweight Division: Ruslan Smirnov v Jacek Kowalski

Kowalski controlled the early clinch well, as Smirnov simply could not break free. Kowalski worked Smirnov against the cage and landed some body shots on the inside. He utilized great dirty boxing to land great shots. Kowalski was able to prevent a takedown attempt as the two wrestled for position. Smirnov managed to take the fight to the ground, but couldn't land much while inside Kowalski's guard. Smirnov was able to free up his trapped foot and advanced to mount. From there, he proceeded to land elbows and strikes with his ground and pound. Kowalski couldn't handle it and was forced to tap out.

Result: Smirnov by 1st round Submission (Strikes)

Co-Main Event

Middleweight Division: Eddie Torrez v Jarkko Vaakku

Vaakku started things off beautifully as he clinched Torrez against the cage and took him down early in the first round. After a quick referee reset, both fighters exchanged strikes. Vaakku was able to slip a nice jab, but wasn't able to close the distance to clinch again. He attempted to shoot in for takedowns, but Torrez kept the fight standing. After the second minute of action, Torrez light up Vaakku with a body shot and overhand right. He followed up with a furious combination of punches and cut Vaakku's face. Torrez stuffed a few more takedown attempts and rushed in with a flurry of punches. Vaakku couldn't stand the pressure and crumpled to the floor.

Result: Torrez by 1st round TKO (Strikes)

Main Event

Middleweight Championship: Albert Fish(c) v Eliod Bunkley Iii

Bunkley went right to work against the champion early in the 1st round. After scoring a takedown into half guard, he attempted 3 submissions, but Fish defended well. The rest of the first round consisted of Bunkley getting close to locking in a submission with Fish wriggling away with great submission defense. The champion maintained his cool and was able to make it through the round.

The second round was very similar to our first round of action. The champion was able to connect with some jabs during a brief stand-up break, but Bunkley was quick to take him down and attempt more submissions. The champ was in deep trouble here as Bunkley had securely won the first 2 rounds.

Bunkley burned himself out in the first 2 rounds with all those takedowns and submission attempts. Fish was able to get to his feet and landed some great strikes. Bunkley was not able to take the champion down again and Fish capitalized on his opponents empty gas tank by landing a nice crisp jab. This cut Bunkley, and Fish followed up with a big overhand right to send him tumbling onto the mat. Fish showed true heart as a champion.

Result: Fish by 3rd round TKO (Strikes)

Post Fight Press Conference

AJ Nex was disappointed that Banka Jansson failed to make weight for his fight. He commented on the lack of professionalism by Jansson. He continued on to congratulate the winners of the 'Of The Night' awards:

Fight of the night: Albert Fish vs Eliod Bunkley Iii

KO of the night: Brian Lancer

Sub of the night: Gerry Van Berry
