Event Preview: AD73: Killer Hook
Aggressive Damage

Author:Cause McDubree

It’s PPV2 time for the good crew at Aggressive Damage and our intrepid matchmaker was in fine form when cobbling together this latest concoction of ballistic fisticuffs. It’s high caliber fighters from top to bottom and those in attendance are assured of being treated to an evening of MMA mastery by some of the Montreal’s finest. Now if we’re gonna ramble further, let it be about our insanely compelling Main Events-

Harold Howard vs Igor Tatov, SHW Title: Howard defends his strap for the first time against the rejuvenated Bellarussian, who’s a veteran of the title fight wars and should put on a great show. Other than the blip on his record in a prior defence against the always dangerous Chris Cook, Howard’s been a KO machine and avenged the Cook loss shortly after in devasting fashion. Tatov’s shown himself to be susceptible to getting tagged with knee rockers in the recent past but management assures us it was due more to bad game planning and fighting while injured. Should that not prevent Howard from doing his Hulk smash routine, we’ll know team Tatov’s in denial.

The Munster vs Simon Lluoma, HW: In this #1 contender eliminator, the AD audience finally gets to witness the debut of last month’s monster signing, The Munster, go against one of the steadiest sluggers the org’s seen since our debut in former champ, Lluoma. With an incredible 20 of his 21 wins coming by way of T/KO, it’s blatantly apparent Lluoma’s a seek and destroy type of combatant and opposing him is the young gun who’s undefeated at 10-0 with 9 of them coming to a violent end. Accordingly, expectations for a spectacular finish are sky high and it will likely come down to who hits paydirt first. Opening up as a pick ‘em at A Good Cause, the betting public has pushed the odds in Munster’s favour, making Lluoma a slight underdog.

Anaconda Anaconda vs Scott Gibson, HW: Although the first super fight in org history lost some of it’s luster when Gibson dropped his OFC belt in his last bout, we’re still excited to bring over a top 1,000 P4P’er with a history of bringing it to face our 265 lb. kingpin. Since solving the riddle of Simon Lluoma by defeating his nemesis via KO and a disputed decision, AA’s been untouchable, showing us he‘s not getting older, he‘s getting better (which is crazy at age 35). AD’s version of Randy Couture has been able to do it all since winning the title, including take a shot and Gibson is going to need a career defining performance in order to steal Anaconda’s thunder.

Elliot Saunders vs Brian Schulte, LHW Title: The only champion our 205 lb. Division’s ever known, Saunders has been a tough nut for everyone not named Charlie Luciano to crack. Although he’s defeated Schulte twice previously via TKO, the challenger believes he’s made the necessary strides in his game to wrest the belt away. His recent hit list would certainly attest to his improved abilities and lead us to believe this one’s going to be a lot more competitive than the casual fan might think.

Tony Parts vs Leandro Alves WW Title: Both these guys come into this match on 4 fight winning streaks and elite skills in their respective areas of expertise. It’s Parts’ strikes against Alves’ submissions and since the latter requires a takedown prior to latching on to a limb, the Champ remains the favourite with the bookies. Parts has pretty much had his way with every fighter we’ve thrown at him with the exception of AD HoF’er Ted Grant but should Alves hit the t/d with anything resembling regularity, he’ll find him to be a different breed of animal than he’s faced so far with us.

Ted Grant vs Per Saukko, WW: Speaking of, Wildcat Grant’s expansive fan base have been clamouring for a Title shot and it looks like the only thing standing in the way is Per Saukko, who lost the belt to Parts in his first defence of it. Saukko’s in the same boat as Alves in the proceeding encounter and will need to get matters horizontal before just he is.

Chris Cook vs. Stones Mahones, SHW: Mahones manager was not thrilled to see Cook on the agenda shortly after being trounced by Tatov but couldn’t resist the lure of the big hype possessed by CC. Stones will always stand a puncher’s chance but against one of the top fighters in our org, those chances decrease dramatically.

Sarge Dela vs Fedor Obsut, MW: Crucial match-up between two meaningful Middleweights heading in opposite directions- Dela with 2 losses while Obsut’s knotched a couple wins. Another one here would have him knocking on the #1 contender’s door and nudge Sarge further along the path that leads to the pasture.

Slade Wilson vs Hades Hug, SHW: Much like Dela, Slade Wilson’s another respected warrior who’s seen better days, looking to put the brakes on a 3 fight losing skid at the expense of Hug, who showed well in his first bout with us but sees a step up in skill levels here, especially on the ground. If he can keep it standing, he looks like a winner but if not, we believe his weaknesses will be exploited by the veteran Wilson.

Hank Blair vs Jack Frazier: This is how good this card is; I’m almost as interested in this opening punchfest as I am any other on our stupendous card- and I have two fighters going for Titles. Great match-up between to big brawlers looking to gain traction in our highly regarded Heavyweight division and like the announcer’s fond of saying- I have absolutely no idea who’s going to take this one!

GETCHER BETSIN!

We’ll see ya at the Montreal Sports Complex tomorrow night, hopefully with 13,000 other fans in attendance giving it up for our cherished combatants.
