The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Clem.
A shot to the body from Hickok misses
and Clem counters with a slapping leg kick.
Hickok walks into a straight right hand from Clem.
Clem throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Hickok counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Clem stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hickok throws a low kick but it's checked well by Clem.
Clem lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hickok just misses with a punch to the body.

A close round but Bubba Clem will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Clem decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hickok's guard.
Clem wants to pass the guard but Hickok is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Hickok ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Clem moves away.

Clem fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hickok to the ground. Clem is now in Hickok's guard.

Clem looking to sit in guard and control but Hickok gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hickok stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clem swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bubba Clem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Clem is trying to ground and pound but Hickok uses the momentary lack of control by Clem to regain half guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well Clem has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
