Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Newport (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newport comes into the arena with Slipknot-Psychosocial blaring out of the sound system. Jackson has chosen Michael Jackson and Too Many DJs - Rock with you as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

6 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Jackson! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson throws an overhand right that lands on Newport's shoulder, as Newport tries to avoid the shot. Newport takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Jackson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Newport darts in and clinches Jackson up against the cage. Newport's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jackson looks to land a right hand but Newport moved out of range. Newport comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jackson gets a takedown into half guard. Newport is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Newport is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Jackson jumps into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson working away. Newport manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Newport thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackson's head. Newport wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it. Jackson keeping control of the position. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Newport as he avoids it easily. Newport misses with a hook. Jackson ducked under it nicely. Newport tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Newport misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jackson.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Newport wants it to stay on the feet. Jack Newport has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Newport is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around? Newport clinches with his opponent.

Newport breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Newport wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance. Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Newport. Jackson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Newport fails with an attempt to clinch.
Newport rushes Jackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Newport pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Newport closes the distance and clinches. Newport's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Newport showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Newport, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Troy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Capone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Capone in side control, throwing shots but Troy defends. Capone working the ground and pound. Capone sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Troy is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Capone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Capone looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Troy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Capone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Capone wants to control but Troy is keeping him busy. Troy blocking the ground and pound attempt from Capone. Capone is figuring out what he wants to do next. Troy wants to get back to full guard. Capone is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Troy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Capone looking to pass the guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Capone wants to control from the top but Troy keeps moving. Capone works a leg free and moves into half guard. Troy is trying to maintain the position but Capone is very close to passing his half guard. Capone is looking for a kimura but Troy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Capone to get the leverage. Troy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Troy is positioning himself well to prevent Capone advancing to mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Troy tries to get to full guard but Capone has control of the leg. Capone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cardinal is defended easily by Nelson. Cardinal throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cardinal off to one side. Nelson thows a left - swing and a miss! Nice takedown defense from Nelson. No joy for Cardinal on that attempt. Kimbo Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Cardinal. Nelson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Horrible takedown by Cardinal or perhaps it was just good defense by Nelson which made him look bad. A nice inside leg kick there by Nelson. That's going to slow Cardinal down. Cardinal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Nelson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Nelson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nelson tries to get out of the position. Cardinal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cardinal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Nelson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cardinal is one step ahead there. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cardinal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cardinal sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Nelson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Nelson scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Nelson cracks the inside of Cardinal's front leg. Nelson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cardinal can do to turn this around? Nelson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cardinal with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Nelson to score with a decent uppercut. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cardinal. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Nelson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nelson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cardinal circles away quickly and effectively. Nice sprawl there from Nelson as Cardinal shoots in. Cardinal has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Nelson. Cardinal walks into a jab. Cardinal takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Kimbo Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson throws out a powerful jab. Cardinal dives in and grabs Nelson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes down on Cardinal's head and hops out. Nelson lands a with a good body shot. Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Nelson cracks Cardinal with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good standup being displayed there by Freeman as he connects with a hook. A leg kick checked by Hagert. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Freeman crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hagert - the referee stops the clock and Freeman gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hagert. Freeman manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Freeman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hagert at a distance.
Freeman scores with a jab. Hagert acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Hagert throws a nice looking combination but Freeman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nice defenses there by Hagert.
