The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Hofstadter throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ness lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. We've been informed that Ness has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Ness lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. A combination from Ness does no damage. Cadan Ness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ness throws a hook but Hofstadter avoids it easily. Ness misses with a combination
and Hofstadter counters with a nice double leg into guard. Hofstadter tries to free his leg and advance position but Ness is retaining full guard. Hofstadter has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Hofstadter wants to control from the top but Ness keeps moving. Hofstadter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hofstadter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hofstadter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Gerson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gerson is in Bones's guard. Gerson wants to control from the top but Bones keeps moving. Gerson is sitting in close to Bones's body. Bones has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gerson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gerson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bones.
