Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kyril Mostakaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brandon Rose!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mostakaev throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rose looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Rose uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mostakaev.
Rose throws out a counter right but Mostakaev avoids it with no problem.
Mostakaev swings widly with a right hand
and Rose counters with a nice uppercut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rose, as that shot connected.
Mostakaev throws a hook to the side of Rose's head but Rose sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A little jabbing left from Rose on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Mostakaev throws a lazy right hand but Rose sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mostakaev throws an off balance right hand
and Rose counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mostakaev misses with a wild body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mostakaev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rose moves away.

Mostakaev drives through and clinches with Rose against the cage.
Mostakaev tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Mostakaev is trying to pull guard but Rose turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rose has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A nice left hand lands by Mostakaev.

Rose is pushing Mostakaev up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Mostakaev misses with a body punch.
Rose lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mostakaev backwards.
Rose tries a body shot but Mostakaev blocks it.
Mostakaev has been working on his balance at PhoQus Island Training, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Rose.
Rose landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Mostakaev throws a head punch that misses.
Rose working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Mostakaev tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rose just stands there and leans against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head punch on the inside from Mostakaev fails to land.
Rose lands a left hand.
Rose tries to throw a body punch but Mostakaev avoids it by throwing Rose back against the cage.

Mostakaev has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rose uses from the top position.

Mostakaev has his foot on Rose's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rose works his way back into a safe position though.
Rose is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mostakaev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rose doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rose manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rose avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rose is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mostakaev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mostakaev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rose doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Mostakaev is tightening it up a little... Rose has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Rose reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Rose taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mostakaev!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Kyril Mostakaev!
A less than humble Kyril Mostakaev misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.

Richard closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming George to the mat! George manages to get full guard.
Richard postures up.
Richard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Richard trying to control but George is working from the bottom.
Richard is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Richard has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Richard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
George avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Richard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
George is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
George is pulling down on Richard's head. It's preventing any offense from Richard, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Richard moves out of range of the strikes.
George looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

George steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Richard.
A nice side step and George releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Richard on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Richard tries to score with a low kick but George moves his leg out of the way.
Richard goes for a double leg but George avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as George continues to drive forward.
Richard tries to pull guard but George forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

George breaks from the clinch.
Richard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and George counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Small Richard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
George misses the jab.
George slips a straight right by Richard.
George throws out a counter right but Richard avoids it with no problem.
George scores with a hook.
George lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Richard at a distance.
George stuns Richard with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Richard misses with a left hand
and George counters with a nice uppercut.
Richard is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oh Richard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
George throws a pinpoint strike between Richard's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Richard crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and George scores a great knockout victory!
