Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thierry Paulin (ranked 345 p4p, 130 weight class) and Sunray Spike (ranked 55 p4p, 23 weight class). Spike has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thierry Paulin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 30 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sunray Spike! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Spike throws a body punch but Paulin moves out of range. Paulin misses with the combination.
Spike throws the left hand but Paulin avoids the punch easily. Paulin fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Spike looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Paulin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Paulin throws a sloppy head kick and Spike cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Paulin dips to his left and cracks Spike with an uppercut! Paulin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spike moves away. Spike lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

It looks like Thierry Paulin has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paulin scores with a kick to the midsection. Paulin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Paulin misses with a hook
and Spike connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Paulin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at House of 1000 Corpses in the buildup to the fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Paulin. Spike does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paulin misses the jab. Paulin throws a lazy right hand but Spike sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Spike looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Paulin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spike. Paulin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spike.
Spike throws a quick inside leg kick. Spike throws a hook to the side of Paulin's head but Paulin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Spike takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Paulin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Spike misses with a looping left. Paulin connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Spike tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Paulin is able to avoid easily. Paulin throws a sloppy head kick and Spike counters with a straight right hand. Paulin throws a low kick, looking for Spike's leg but Spike calmly moves out of range. Spike swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spike moves out of range of the body kick from Paulin.
A looping hook to the body misses from Paulin. Spike does a little dance to reset his feet. Spike moves out of range as Paulin strikes. Spike throws a counter combo. Spike uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Paulin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Paulin throws a head kick but Spike moves out of range.

Spike replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Paulin blocks it well. Paulin throws a sloppy head kick and Spike cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Paulin misses with a body punch

Thierry Paulin's cut is getting worse. Paulin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spike. Paulin throws a lazy head kick and Spike counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paulin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Paulin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Spike lands a big uppercut and Paulin crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Paulin looks OK. Spike waves Paulin back to his feet!
Paulin is rocked! Spike throws a hook but Paulin avoids it easily. Oh Paulin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Paulin misses the shot to the body. Paulin seems to have got his legs back now. Paulin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Paulin tried to counter with a leg kick but Spike avoided it. Paulin misses with a head kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Spike checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Spike uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Paulin.
Spike throws a counter combo. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spike's corner calls for a 1-2. Spike obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Spike tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. A clash of legs there as Paulin blocks the low kick. Spike misses with a looping left.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spike scores with a jab to the body. Paulin swings and misses with a shot to the body letting Spike counter with a right hand.
Thierry Paulin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Paulin will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Paulin connects with an inside leg kick. A head kick misses from Paulin. Nice straight punches there by Spike. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Spike. Paulin gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Sunray Spike! In his post fight interview, Sunray Spike started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
