PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pius Pavlovic (ranked 5117 p4p, 5091 weight class) and Keichhi Satto (ranked 222 p4p, 223 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pius Pavlovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Keichhi Satto!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Satto misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pavlovic.
Satto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pavlovic's waist but Pavlovic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Satto off to one side.
Satto has a takedown stuffed.

Pavlovic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pavlovic postures up.
Pavlovic stops Satto from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A nice leg kick lands there from Satto.
Nice sprawl there from Pavlovic as Satto shoots in.
Pius Pavlovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keichhi Satto.
Satto tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pavlovic swivels and escapes.
Pavlovic tries to counter by clinching up but Satto breaks away and moves out of range.

Pavlovic manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Pavlovic on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pavlovic tries to get out of the position.
Satto wants to get up but he can't break Pavlovic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Pavlovic tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pavlovic wants to stand but Satto is controlling the position.
Pavlovic is pulling down on Satto's head to control his posture.
Satto loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pavlovic has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Satto has passed into side control.
What's Pavlovic going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Satto wants to control for a moment but Pavlovic uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Pavlovic is holding on to half guard well.
Pavlovic wants to control but Satto passes into side.
Pavlovic tries to bench press Satto off him but Satto keeps the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Satto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Pavlovic regains half guard there - taking advantage of Satto's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Pavlovic is trying to maintain the position but Satto is very close to passing his half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Satto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pavlovic does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Pavlovic's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Pavlovic throws a head kick but Satto moves out of range.

and Pavlovic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Satto's guard.
Satto wants to stand up but Pavlovic is controlling him.
Pavlovic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Satto can do to turn this around?
Pavlovic is looking to stand up but Satto won't let him.

Pavlovic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pavlovic has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Satto is working away from the top position though.
Satto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Satto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Satto can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pavlovic controls the pace.
Satto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Pavlovic slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Satto is looking for a triangle but Pavlovic pushes his legs off easily.
Satto wants to hit a sweep here but Pavlovic passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Satto there!
Satto is trying to escape the mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Pavlovic throws a push kick but Satto slaps the foot to one side.
Satto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pavlovic is fending him off so far but Satto persists. Nope, Pavlovic circles away and we're back to standing.

Satto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pavlovic's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Satto tries to roll over but Pavlovic keeps him under control.

Pavlovic is working Satto over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pavlovic seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Satto jumps into guard, dragging Pavlovic to the mat.
Pavlovic lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pavlovic stands and throws Satto's legs to the side, diving into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well Pavlovic has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
