Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Foster (ranked 6985 p4p, 24184 weight class) and Antero Aalto (ranked 728 p4p, 739 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carl Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antero Aalto! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster leaves Aalto with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Foster feinted there with a counter leg kick. Aalto fails in his attempt to clinch. Aalto tries a head kick but it misses.
Foster looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Aalto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foster's waist but Foster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aalto off to one side. Aalto throws a lazy uppercut
and Foster counters with a low kick, right behind Aalto 's knee. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aalto tries a head kick but it misses.
Aalto looks for the body kick but Foster saw that one coming. Aalto shoots in but Foster avoids the takedown attempt easily. Carl Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antero Aalto.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aalto looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Foster appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Foster takes one on the button.
It looks like Carl Foster has been cut. Aalto fails with the takedown and Foster cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Aalto throws a sloppy head kick and Foster counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aalto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It looked like Foster wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Foster has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Cave in the buildup to the fight. Aalto dives in for a single leg takedown but Foster sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Aalto fails with the takedown. Foster looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Aalto dives in and grabs Foster's left leg, looking for a takedown. Foster pushes down on Aalto's head and hops out. Foster throwing a counter right hand but Aalto manages to avoid it. Aalto throws a head kick that misses and Foster counters with a low kick, right behind Aalto 's knee. Aalto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aalto missing with a left hand there. Foster was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Foster half committed to a counter leg kick. Aalto tries to clinch up and Foster counters with a slapping leg kick. Aalto moves in looking to clinch but Foster pushes him off. As Aalto backs away, Foster returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Aalto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foster's waist but Foster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aalto off to one side. Foster swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Aalto shoots and misses and Foster counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Aalto misses with a wild body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head kick by Aalto misses and Foster counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Foster displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Aalto. An attempted straight right counter from Foster misses the target. Aalto misses with a takedown and Foster counters with a nice body shot. Aalto throws a lazy head kick and Foster counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Aalto is looking to clinch but Foster is avoiding it.
As Aalto backs away, Foster returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Aalto shoots in for a double leg but Foster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Aalto lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Aalto tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Foster counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Aalto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foster's waist but Foster gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aalto off to one side. Aalto digs a good body shot into Foster's ribs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aalto has his takedown stuffed and Foster counters with a nice body shot.

Carl Foster is winning the standup battle so far. Aalto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foster swats him away and circles back towards the center. A little feinted left hand from Foster on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Aalto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Foster as he avoids it easily. Foster appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Carl Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antero Aalto. Foster takes a jab right on the kisser.
Aalto looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Aalto wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving. Foster is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Aalto might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Foster haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Foster wants to control the position but Aalto says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Foster tries to roll over but Aalto keeps him under control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Aalto working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Aalto content to control rather than advance. Aalto is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Foster looking for a kimura from the bottom but Aalto passes into side control! Foster is looking to reverse the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Foster prevents Aalto from improving position. Foster is not content to let Aalto control the position. Aalto works to advance to full mount. Foster defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Aalto sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Foster is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Antero Aalto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Carl Foster's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aalto. Aalto misses with a head kick.
Foster is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Aalto with a lazy takedown attempt and Foster makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Aalto tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Foster defends well and Aalto ends up having to push Foster into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. A counter left hand to the body from Foster misses its target. Carl Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antero Aalto. Foster has his hands on Aalto's head, controlling the position. Aalto looking to pass the guard. Foster throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Aalto slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Aalto stops Foster from standing up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aalto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Foster circles away. Carl Foster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Foster blocks a head kick by Aalto.
Foster half committed to a counter leg kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Aalto looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Aalto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Foster counters with a straight right hand. Foster gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Aalto to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Foster has his foot on Aalto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aalto works his way back into a safe position though. Foster throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Aalto pushes down on Foster's leg and manages to get into half guard. Aalto prevents Foster from improving his position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Aalto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Foster is just riding it out for now. Aalto eventually gives up the hold.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carl Foster. I think Foster has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
