PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sadio Mane (ranked 6673 p4p, 24506 weight class) and Nick Jackson (ranked 338 p4p, 362 weight class). Mane's entrance music is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Sadio Mane has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sadio Mane seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Sadio Mane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mane manages to avoid it.
Mane is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mane avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Jackson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Mane throws a lazy right hand but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jackson lands a nice shot to the body.
Mane swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jackson counters with a nice uppercut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mane could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nice uppercut lands for Jackson. That snapped Mane's head back.
Mane looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.

Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Mane misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And Jackson tries to counter it with a takedown but Mane pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mane closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Mane pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sadio Mane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson looks up at the clock and then as Mane takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jackson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mane gets caught napping as Jackson dives in and scores a takedown. Mane manages to retain guard.

Mane has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jackson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mane.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee asks Jackson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jackson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Mane takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Jackson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Nick Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jackson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Jackson lands a big head kick that sends Mane tumbling to the mat! Jackson takes a step backwards and waves Mane back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Sadio Mane has been cut.
Mane sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson drops Mane with a straight right hand, right on the button! Jackson follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Jackson!
After winning the bout, Nick Jackson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
