The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross darts in and clinches Rufus up against the cage.
Cross looking to throw knees to the head but Rufus is blocking nicely.
Rufus fails to pull the fight into his guard.
A left hand lands to the body for Rufus.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cross.
Rufus is trying to break free.
Rufus jumps guard but Cross turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Rufus is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cross pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dick Rufus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cross is trying to break the clinch but Rufus has him pressed against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rufus is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cross is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rufus to the mat. Rufus regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Cross is standing up over Rufus. Rufus looks to escape but Cross dives into side control.
