PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Edwards (ranked 4330 p4p, 2885 weight class) and Jack Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Davis!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Davis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Edwards quickly recovers to half guard.
Davis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Edwards throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Edwards desperately trying to maintain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edwards wants to get back to full guard.
Edwards is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Edwards is trying to maintain the position but Davis is very close to passing his half guard.

Edwards is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Edwards manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Davis on his heels. He'll look to pass Davis's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Edwards not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Davis looking to control but Edwards passes into half guard.

Edwards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Davis looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Davis looking for submissions off his back.
Edwards wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it.
Edwards is looking to advance position but Davis won't allow it.
Davis regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Edwards trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Edwards thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Edwards slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Edwards has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Davis throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Davis jabs Edwards right on the nose. Edwards blinks but takes it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Edwards pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Davis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Davis wants to clinch.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nice sprawl there from Davis as Edwards shoots in.
Sloppy strikes from Davis. Those never looked like landing.
Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Edwards pinned against the cage. Edwards gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Edwards tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Davis manages to circle out of the way.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nate Edwards will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Davis fails to land the takedown.
Davis connects with a high kick.

Edwards is rocked!
Edwards leaves his chin hanging out and Davis seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Edwards crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jack Davis!
Jack Davis opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
