Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tabassi Maruf (ranked 4179 p4p, 4431 weight class) and King Hams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maruf comes to the cage accompanied by L$D. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tabassi Maruf! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, King Hams! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maruf fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hams to the ground. Maruf is now in Hams's guard. Maruf sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hams wants to sweep here but Maruf controlling him for the moment. Hams is trying to control the position but Maruf postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maruf is one step ahead there. Maruf engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Maruf has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hams is on top in guard.
Maruf wants to get back to his feet but Hams is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Maruf has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hams off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Hams darts in looking for a takedown but Maruf gets double underhooks and turns Hams into the cage. Hams gets caught flat footed, as Maruf shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Maruf controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maruf has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Maruf looking to pass the guard. Hams looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maruf gets a takedown into half guard. Maruf is controlling the pace.
Maruf knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hams on the ground. This is a sustained period of stalling by Maruf.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maruf tries to pass to full mount but Hams defends it. Maruf is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Maruf seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hams for as long as he can get away with. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hams is looking to improve his position.
Maruf is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Maruf feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Maruf is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hams can do to turn this around? Maruf looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Maruf wants to pass the guard but Hams is keeping the position. Maruf slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hams working a defensive guard but Maruf manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maruf slows the pace down. Hams manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Maruf manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hams keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Maruf manages to break the clinch.
Maruf scores with a takedown into Hams's guard. Maruf passes easily into side control. Nice work. Hams is trying to escape the position but Maruf is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maruf continues to stall. Hams wants to control but Maruf postures up. A lull in the action here as Maruf stalls from top position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Maruf scores with punches from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maruf happy to just control the position for now. Hams tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Maruf presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Maruf controlling the pace for now. Maruf breaks from Hams's wrist control and lands an elbow. Hams can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Maruf controlling the position easily from mount. Hams tries to reverse the position but Maruf maintains control. Hams is breathing heavily. Maruf controlling from the full mount. Hams tries to lock up and control but Maruf gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Maruf content just to control the position here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tabassi Maruf overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tabassi Maruf dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Maruf throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hams tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Maruf is in Hams's guard. Hams scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Hams throws out a leg kick but Maruf moves out of range and Hams only half commits. Maruf shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hams is trying to defend but Maruf finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Maruf wants to free his trapped foot but Hams is holding on for dear life with his legs. Maruf is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hams tries to kick Maruf off but Maruf keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maruf sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Maruf closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Hams takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maruf perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Hams is trying to maintain the position but Maruf is very close to passing his half guard. Maruf wants to pass the guard but Hams is defending well. Hams punching from the bottom.
Maruf slows the pace down in half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hams throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Hams is trying to defend but Maruf finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Well, if Maruf is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Tabassi Maruf is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Still in half guard, Maruf seems content to control.
And that's the end of the fight! Tabassi Maruf showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Maruf, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
