Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Son Tang Pu (ranked 4991 p4p, 25256 weight class) and Alex Pereira (ranked 462 p4p, 492 weight class). Alex Pereira is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Son Tang Pu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Pereira!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for Pereira.
Nice uppercut lands for Pereira. That snapped Pu's head back.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Pu moves into range and clinches up with Pereira.
Pu throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Pereira takes a knee right on the jaw!

It looks like Alex Pereira has been cut.
Pu slows down the pace here.
Pereira stops a takedown attempt from Pu.
I was talking to Pu's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Pereira dodges an elbow strike from Pu.
Pereira tries to circle away but Pu has him pinned against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pereira blocks an elbow strike.

Pu wants the takedown. Pereira is fighting it off but Pu persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Pereira's guard against the cage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pu throwing strikes but missing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pereira utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Pu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pu rushes Pereira and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pu pulls Pereira into guard.

Pu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pereira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pereira stands up from Pu's guard - Pereira perhaps looking for a knockout.
A jab from Pereira finds it's way through Pu's defenses.
Pereira jabs Pu to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Pu drives through and clinches with Pereira against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pu fails to pull guard.
Pereira is trying to force a seperation but Pu has the dominant position.
Pereira tries to break free but Pu pushes him back against the cage.

Pu manages to break the clinch.
Pereira swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Pu misses with a head kick.
Pu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Son Tang Pu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pu forces Pereira back against the cage and clinches.

Pu manages to break the clinch.
We've been informed that Pereira has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Pu has Pereira up against the cage in a clinch.
Pu tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pereira blocks an elbow strike from Pu.
Pu pressing his opponent against the cage.

Pu dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Pu misses with a knee strike.
Pereira is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pereira scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Pereira cracks a nice hook into Pu's ribs.

Pu drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Son Tang Pu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Alex Pereira's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pu closes the distance and clinches.
Pu scores with a shoulder strike.
Pu lands an elbow inside.
Pereira avoiding damage as Pu throws knees to the body.
Pu presses Pereira against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Pu is trying to pull guard but Pereira turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Pereira wants to break free but Pu has control.

Pereira breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pereira fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pu closes the distance and clinches.
Pereira is looking to break free of the clinch but Pu has double underhooks.
The referee is keeping an eye on Pu - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Pereira wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Pereira blocks an elbow strike.
Pereira has had enough of the clinch but Pu keeps him there for the moment.

Pu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pereira fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pereira lands a jab to the nose.

Pu clinches up with Pereira and pushes him back against the cage.
Pereira is trying to break free.
Pu tries to pull guard but Pereira holds him up against the cage and eventually Pu drops back down to his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Pereira's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Pu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pu closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pereira looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Pu decides to pull guard.

Pereira stands up from Pu's guard - Pereira perhaps looking for a knockout.
Pereira connects with a right hand. Pu shakes it off.
Pereira misses with the combination.
Pereira buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pereira thows a leg kick but Pu checks it
and Pu counters with a left and a right that stings Pereira.

Pereira drops Pu with a left and a right! Oh, Pu is hurt - Pereira dives into side control looking to finish!

Pu is rocked!
Pu tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pereira wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Oh Pu is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pu manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pereira's best efforts.
Pu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pu has his hands clasped together around Pereira's back. He's all about the action.

Pereira decides to stand and escape the position.
Pu seems to have got his legs back now.

Pu gets a clinch.
Pereira managing to block the knees to the body from Pu.

Pu breaks the clinch.
Pu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pereira tries to avoid it but Pu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pereira to the ground. Pereira escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Son Tang Pu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pu moves into range and clinches up with Pereira.
Pu will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Pereira up against the cage.
Pereira is looking to break free of the clinch but Pu has double underhooks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pu pressing his opponent against the cage.

Pu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pereira takes a swing at Pu's ribcage but misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pu.
Alex Pereira seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pereira feints a jab promting Pu to slip. Pereira then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pu slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Pereira tries to keep at a distance but Pu has taken the fight into the clinch.

Pu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alex Pereira will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Alex Pereira's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pu takes the fight into the clinch.

Pu pulls guard effortlessly.
Pu managing to control the position.

Pu working for a triangle but Pereira defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pu is pulling down on Pereira's head to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Pu has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Pereira must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Pereira. No joy for Pu on that attempt.
A punch combination from Pereira misses.

Pu clinches up against the cage.
Pereira wants to break the clinch but can't.
Pu using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pereira has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Pu successfully pulls guard.
Pu controlling the position.

Pu continues to stall.

Pereira gets to his feet. Pu looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Pu looks for a takedown but Pereira sprawls well.
Pereira throws a leg kick but Pu sees it coming and moves out of range.
Pereira with a hook.
Nice shot lands for Pereira.

Pu gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Pu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pu fails in his attempt to clinch.

Pereira lands a big shot that drops Pu! Can he finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pu has his hands on Pereira's head, controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pu controlling the position.

Pu uses the cage to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Alex Pereira.
I think Pereira has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
