Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Pierre! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie shoots in and drives through. Pierre sprawls well. Gracie fails with a takedown attempt. Pierre slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Gracie is breathing heavily. Gracie shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Pierre has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pierre connects with a single shot there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pierre throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Pierre has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.

Pierre breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Gracie. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Pierre shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Pierre finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierre looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pierre keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pierre trying to pass the guard but Gracie defending well. Pierre tries to stand but can't do so whilst Gracie controls his leg. Pierre lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Pierre trying to control the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pierre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gracie is just riding it out for now. Pierre eventually gives up the hold. Gracie trying to control here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gracie kicks Pierre off and gets back to his feet. Pierre gets the takedown into side control. Gracie is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Pierre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pierre is trying to ground and pound but Gracie uses the momentary lack of control by Pierre to regain half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Pierre dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mark Gracie's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gracie fails with the takedown and Pierre counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now. Pierre wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Pierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pierre missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pierre manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie throwing strikes from guard but Pierre blocks nicely. Pierre wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it. Pierre looking for a guillotine here but Gracie defends easily.
Pierre is trying to control the position but Gracie postures up. Gracie preventing the sweep. Pierre throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pierre wants to sweep but no luck. Pierre keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully. Gracie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pierre fails to land the takedown. Gracie shoots and misses and Pierre counters with a good, hard body kick but Gracie shrugs it off. Gracie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pierre. Pierre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gracie to the mat! Gracie manages to get full guard. Pierre avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gracie wants to sweep here but Pierre controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pierre can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gracie working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pierre trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gracie's guard. Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie working a defensive guard here.
Gracie will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

A close second round but Jason Pierre will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Mark Gracie's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Pierre gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gracie is working for takedown but Pierre is calmly controlling the position for now. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Gracie prevents the takedown attempt.
Pierre looking for a takedown. Pierre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gracie just stands there and leans against the cage. Mark Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Pierre. Pierre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Pierre is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gracie sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Jason Pierre seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gracie fails with the takedown and Pierre counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gracie thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pierre wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierre would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gracie lands with a heel strike from the guard.

Pierre tries to stand but Gracie is controlling from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gracie trying to strike off his back.
Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gracie working for a triangle but Pierre defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierreis looking to pass into half guard but Gracie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gracie is in guard. Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Pierre. Pierre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pierre working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie. Pierre trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Gracie trying to control but Pierre is working from the bottom. Pierre pulls Gracie in close to prevent any damage. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gracie avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mark Gracie. Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
