Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Duke Ellington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duke Ellington looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Duke Ellington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Freddy Eriksson! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellington shoots in looking for a takedown. Eriksson tries to sprawl out of it but Ellington keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eriksson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ellington wants to clinch. Ellington tries to clinch there but Eriksson circles away.
Horrible takedown by Ellington or perhaps it was just good defense by Eriksson which made him look bad. Ellington throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fight stays on the outside here - Ellington looks like he's thinking about clinching though. No luck for Ellington with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duke Ellington. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ellington shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Eriksson but Eriksson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ellington throws a right and a left that both miss. Duke Ellington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ellington shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eriksson pinned against the cage. Eriksson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ellington is breathing heavily. Ellington shoots for a double leg takedown but Eriksson sprawls well. He's pushed Ellington's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ellington misses with a takedown attempt - Eriksson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Eriksson instigates a clinch. Ellington tries for a takedown. No joy.
Eriksson has Ellington pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Eriksson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ellington tumbling to the mat - Eriksson dives into Ellington's guard. Ellington wants to get back to his feet but Eriksson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Eriksson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Ellington is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellington looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Eriksson has picked Ellington up and slammed him! Ellington can't keep hold of the triangle and Eriksson manages to pass to side control! Eriksson stands up and we're back to a striking position. Ellington misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ellington scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Ellington moves nicely into side control. Eriksson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Ellington.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ellington decides to stand back up. Ellington closes this distance looking for a takedown but Eriksson circles away. Eriksson on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Ellington has a takedown stuffed. Ellington looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Eriksson! Eriksson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ellington. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ellington wants to control the pace but Eriksson is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Freddy Eriksson will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ellington wants to clinch but Eriksson slips to the side and Eriksson counters with a left and a right that stings Ellington. Ellington shoots and misses and Eriksson counters with a takedown into side control. Ellington is looking for a sweep. A lull in the action here as Eriksson stalls from top position. Ellington tries to buck Eriksson off but Eriksson is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ellington is being controlled here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellington is looking to reverse the position. Eriksson controls the position. Ellington is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Eriksson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ellington to his feet. Ellington with a lazy takedown attempt and Eriksson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Ellington looks to clinch and Eriksson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Eriksson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellington is controlling Eriksson's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ellington looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ellington doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Eriksson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ellington swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Eriksson prevents Ellington from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Freddy Eriksson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Eriksson!
Ellington throws a sloppy head kick and Eriksson moves out of range easily. Ellington shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eriksson pinned against the cage. Eriksson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Eriksson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ellington backs up against the cage.

Ellington tries to clinch up. Eriksson throws a front kick aimed at Ellington's knee but Ellington avoids it well. Horrible takedown by Eriksson or perhaps it was just good defense by Ellington which made him look bad. Ellington looks to score with a jab to the body but Eriksson is just out of range. Eriksson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ellington to the mat! Ellington manages to get full guard. Ellington wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Eriksson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ellington can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Eriksson controls the pace. Ellington wriggles free and stands up. Ellington drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ellington loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ellington stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eriksson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Eriksson keeping moving, preventing Ellington from controlling successfully. Freddy Eriksson has got the better of the ground game so far. Duke Ellington has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ellington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Freddy Eriksson. Well Eriksson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
