Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Summers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Delilah Herpies! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herpies tries to clinch but Summers moves out of range. Summers throws a leg kick but Herpies sees it coming and checks it nicely. Delilah Herpies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Summers tries to clinch there but Herpies circles away.
Herpies shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Summers as he jumps to the side. Nice takedown defense from Summers. No joy for Herpies on that attempt. Herpies tries to clinch up. Herpies shoots in but no luck this time. Nathan Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Delilah Herpies. Herpies shoots and misses and Summers counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Summers. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Herpies keeping full guard, as Summers tries to pass. Summers trying to control the position from guard on top but Herpies is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Summers throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Summers controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Herpies is trying to control the position but Summers postures up. Summers sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Herpies's guard. Summers is trying to control. Herpies wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Summers tries to pass to full mount but Herpies defends it. Herpies tries to roll over but Summers keeps him under control. Summers has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Herpies defend it? Summers steps over the head and cranks it - Herpies is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Summers!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nathan Summers! Nathan Summers decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
