Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matumba Paralanga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rio Bignog! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Paralanga enables Bignog to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Paralanga manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Paralanga looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Bignog distracts Paralanga with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Paralanga had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bignog defends it easily. Paralanga working a defensive guard here.
Bignog trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bignog not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bignog throwing strikes from guard but Paralanga blocks nicely.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rio Bignog. Bignog shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Bignog pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Bignog punching from mount but Paralanga doing a good job of avoiding damage. Bignog looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Bignog takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bignog is in the full mount, landing strikes. Bignog connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Bignog looking to secure an arm triangle but Paralanga defends it well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bignog working Paralanga over with strikes here. Bignog sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paralanga is trying desperately to improve position. Bignog content just to control the position here. Paralanga tries to hold on but Bignog postures up. Paralanga really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bignog working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Paralanga looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Bignog! Submission of the night perhaps?
