Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Preston Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alakai Labasan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Preston Stewart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alakai Labasan! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stewart manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Labasan on his heels. He'll look to pass Labasan's guard now, I'm sure. Stewart prevents Labasan from getting back to his feet. Stewart wants to get up but he can't break Labasan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Stewart passes easily into side control. Nice work. Stewart tries to advance to mount but Labasan denies him. Labasan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stewart off and has taken his back! Stewart looking very determined here, making life difficult for Labasan.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Labasan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stewart kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. I really don't envy Stewart right now.
Labasan is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stewart is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Labasan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Stewart just trying to survive but Labasan is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Stewart is trying to remain composed but Labasan is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Stewart tries to roll but Labasan sticks to his back.
Labasan is not going to allow Stewart to sit and survive in this position. Stewart is trying to get back to his feet but Labasan has full control of the position and if anything, Stewart has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Labasan is looking for a choke. Stewart gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Stewart manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard. Stewart looking to sit in guard and control but Labasan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Labasan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Labasan trying to control but Stewart is working from the bottom. Stewart is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Labasan passes easily into side control. Nice work. Labasan tries for a kimura but Stewart is defending well. Labasan stands up and beckons Stewart to his feet. Stewart moves into the clinch successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Labasan is trying to stand up here but Stewart is controlling him well. Labasan is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Labasan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Stewart scores with a couple of nice shots. Stewart is trying to control. Labasan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Stewart controlling the action here. This has been an exciting period of action! Stewart is trying to control. Stewart moves nicely into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Preston Stewart will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
No luck for Stewart with that takedown attempt. Stewart gets a double leg takedown into Labasan's guard. Labasan wants to hit a switch here but Stewart passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Labasan there! Stewart content just to control the position here. Labasan squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round. Labasan tries to hold on but Stewart pushes him away. Stewart is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Labasan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Stewart lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Labasan wants to control but Stewart is having none of it. Labasan is working to get back to half guard.
Labasan is breathing heavily. Stewart takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stewart has control of Labasan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Labasan regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Labasan is in a horrible position here. Stewart smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Stewart breaks from Labasan's wrist control and lands an elbow. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Labasan is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Stewart looking to control but Labasan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Stewart get's back to his feet. Stewart shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Stewart was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Labasan has given up his back here.

Preston Stewart dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Labasan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stewart circles away. Stewart swats away the attempt to clinch by Labasan. Labasan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stewart but Stewart pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stewart shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Labasan defends it nicely. Stewart pushes Labasan up against the cage in a clinch. Stewart drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Stewart jumps guard but Labasan stands there with Stewart around his waist. Stewart gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Preston Stewart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Labasan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stewart moves away. Labasan slaps away a takedown attempt from Stewart, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Labasan throws a head kick that misses. Labasan wants to clinch. Labasan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Labasan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Stewart working to try and regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Labasan unloading with bombs!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stewart is trying desperately to improve position. Labasan wants to control the pace but Stewart is squirming around nicely. Stewart wants to control but Labasan is having none of it. Labasan with shots to the head and body - Stewart looks very uncomfortable down there. Stewart flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Stewart is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Stewart tries to hold on but Labasan postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stewart really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Labasan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Stewart is squirming around, avoiding Labasan's attempts to control the action. Labasan wants to control the action but instead Stewart gets a body lock and reverses into Labasan's guard! Nice work! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Labasan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stewart's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Alakai Labasan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Stewart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
