Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Tapperoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Trejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Danny Trejo has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tony Tapperoni's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Tapperoni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Danny Trejo!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tapperoni scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Tapperoni is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Trejo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tapperoni.

Tapperoni is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Trejo is just riding it out for now. Tapperoni eventually gives up the hold.
Tapperoni will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Trejo won't allow Tapperoni to pass to mount.

Tapperoni decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Trejo, up you get!

Tapperoni pulls Trejo in close to his closed guard and prevents Trejo from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tony Tapperoni wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Trejo slaps away a takedown attempt from Tapperoni, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Tapperoni throws a leg kick
and Trejo counters with a right hand to the body.
Trejo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Trejo jumps guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Trejo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tapperoni drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tapperoni jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Trejo can't keep his opponent in guard - Tapperoni advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Tapperoni is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tapperoni thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Tapperoni decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Tapperoni gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trejo is looking to stand up but Tapperoni won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Trejo gets caught napping as Tapperoni dives in and scores a takedown. Trejo manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tapperoni thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Tony Tapperoni overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Trejo controls Tapperoni momentarily but Tapperoni frees himself.
Tapperoni won't allow Trejo to get back to his feet.

Tapperoni sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Trejo's guard.

Tapperoni is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Trejo as he works his way to full guard.

Tapperoni got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trejo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tapperoni has managed to get both his arms back between Trejo's legs - danger averted.

Tapperoni is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Trejo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Trejo has escaped and now he's on top!

Trejo is trying to maintain the position but Tapperoni is very close to passing his half guard.

Tapperoni wants to work for an arm triangle but Trejo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tony Tapperoni will probably get the nod.

We're going to have a standup here because Tony Tapperoni wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Danny Trejo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Trejo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
