PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Xaiver Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Sucre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sucre has chosen Sobota-tanczy as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Xaiver Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fernando Sucre!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sucre is looking to clinch.
Knight looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Knight will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Sucre throws a big shot that misses.
Xaiver Knight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knight is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Sucre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Knight paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Knight finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Knight looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sucre is fending him off so far but Knight persists. Nope, Sucre circles away and we're back to standing.

Knight pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Sucre back to the cage. Knight follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Sucre clinches with his opponent.
Knight changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sucre fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xaiver Knight. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sucre tries to clinch up.

and Sucre counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Sucre keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Knight's efforts to push away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Knight blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Knight fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sucre stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sucre wants it to stay on the feet.
Knight shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sucre pinned against the cage. Sucre gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sucre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Knight shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sucre but Sucre pushes him off and we're back to square one.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sucre can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sucre has hold of Knight's hands but Knight slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Knight connects with a nice short shot to Sucre's temple.
Knight really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Knight is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sucre doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Knight.
Knight wants to free his trapped foot but Sucre is holding on for dear life with his legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Knight looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sucre is fending him off so far but Knight persists. Nope, Sucre circles away and we're back to standing.
Sucre fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Knight scores with a jab. Sucre acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Xaiver Knight is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sucre throws a front kick aimed at Knight's knee but Knight avoids it well.
Knight tries to land a front kick but Sucre steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Knight throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sucre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Knight circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sucre moves in looking to clinch but Knight pushes him off.
Sucre tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Knight manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Knight fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sucre checks it well.

Sucre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Knight swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Knight avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Knight fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sucre sprawls well initially but Knight persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sucre tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Knight manages to move to mount!
Sucre is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Knight lands a nice shot to the head.
Sucre's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Knight with shots to the head and body - Sucre looks very uncomfortable down there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
BOOM! Knight connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Knight postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sucre looks a forlorn figure.
Xaiver Knight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sucre is bucking up trying to escape but Knight cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Knight fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Sucre takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sucre is in a horrible position here. Knight smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Sucre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knight. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Knight has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sucre's face.
