Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Malik Atkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Nakai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Malik Atkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Nakai! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakai with a lazy takedown attempt and Atkins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Atkins. Atkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nakai smiles and moves away.
Nakai closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Atkins jumps guard but Nakai stands there with Atkins around his waist. Atkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Atkins has Nakai pressed against the cage, preventing Nakai from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Nakai drags the fight down to the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Atkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nakai is keeping the position for now. Nakai avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atkins looking to sit in guard and control but Nakai gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Nakai is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Atkins keeping moving, preventing Nakai from controlling successfully. Atkins looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nakai wants to get up but he can't break Atkins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Nakai working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakai is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Nakai trying to control but Atkins is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Kenji Nakai hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Atkins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nakai paws at him with a jab and circles away. Atkins tries to clinch up. Atkins closes the distance and pushes Nakai back into the cage. Atkins pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Nakai throws a body punch but Atkins moves out of range. Atkins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nakai swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakai shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Atkins defends it nicely. Nakai clinches with his opponent.
Atkins is pressed up against the cage. Nakai has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Atkins down to the mat. Atkins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Malik Atkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Nakai. Atkins throws a sloppy head kick and Nakai moves out of range easily. Atkins clinches with his opponent.
Atkins blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Atkins is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nakai to keep the fight standing. Atkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Nakai smiles and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Atkins displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nakai. Atkins looks to score with a jab to the body but Nakai is just out of range. Nakai doesn't succeed with the takedown and Atkins counters with a shoot takedown. Nakai fights it but they end up in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Atkins trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Atkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Nakai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Atkins won't allow Nakai to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Malik Atkins dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nakai drives through and clinches with Atkins against the cage.
Atkins lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Nakai tries to break free but Atkins pushes him back against the cage. Nakai can't break the clinch.
Nakai wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Atkins has him pressed against the cage. Nakai is trying to pull guard but Atkins has him pressed against the cage. Atkins keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Nakai's efforts to push away. Atkins fails to pull guard.
Atkins jumps guard but Nakai stands there with Atkins around his waist. Atkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Atkins managing to block the knees to the body from Nakai.
Atkins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nakai rushes Atkins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Nakai looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Nakai goes for a takedown in the clinch but Atkins prevents it.
Atkins jumps guard but Nakai turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Malik Atkins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Atkins wants to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakai is looking to take this one to the mat. Nakai tries to work over Atkins's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Atkins is trying to pull guard but Nakai has him pressed against the cage. Nakai slows down the pace here.
Nakai manages to pull guard.
Atkins looking to sit in guard and control but Nakai gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Nakai has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Atkins is proving hard to escape from.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakai gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Nakai scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Atkins wants to get back to his feet. Nakai is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Atkins sees it coming and defends easily. Nakai looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Nakai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kenji Nakai. Nakai rushes Atkins and presses him up against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Atkins jumps guard but Nakai stands there with Atkins around his waist. Atkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Atkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nakai walks away with a smile on his face. Atkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Nakai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
A head kick misses from Nakai. Nakai moves into range and clinches up with Atkins. Nakai is pushing Atkins up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Nakai manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Atkins looking to pass the guard. Nakai trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nakai has his feet on Atkins's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Nakai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Atkins but Atkins pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nakai doesn't succeed with the takedown and Atkins counters by clinching up. Atkins fails to pull guard.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Atkins as Nakai tries to tie him up. Nakai tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakai pulls guard. Nakai wants to sweep here but Atkins controlling him for the moment. Atkins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Nakai manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Atkins throwing hammer fists to the chest of Nakai. What's that going to do exactly? Nakai blocks Atkins's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Atkins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nakai looking to control but Atkins is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakai get's back to his feet. Nakai fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Atkins, pushing him back against the cage. Nakai can't get the takedown.
Malik Atkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Nakai. Nakai fails to pull guard.
Atkins breaks the clinch.
Nakai moves into the clinch. Atkins drags the fight down to the ground.
Nakai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Atkins swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nakai sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Atkins's guard. Nakai is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Atkins sees it coming and defends easily. Atkins is looking for a sweep. Nakai is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nakai is looking to advance position but Atkins won't allow it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nakai is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenji Nakai comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Nakai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
