Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Merrill Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shelldor Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shelldor Speed is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Merrill Clark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Shelldor Speed!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Speed gets a clinch.
Speed has had enough of the clinch but Clark keeps him there for the moment.
Clark gets underhooks to prevent Speed's takedown attempt.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Speed.
Speed fails to pull guard.
Clark controlling the action here for a moment.
Clark throws a head punch that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Speed has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Clark after a bit of a struggle.
Merrill Clark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shelldor Speed.
Clark tries to score a body lock takedown but Speed shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
The referee is keeping an eye on Speed - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Speed's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Clark stuffs the takedown.
Speed misses with a head kick.
Clark misses with an attempted mid kick.
Clark looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Speed keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shelldor Speed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Speed moves in looking to clinch but Clark pushes him off.

Speed closes the distance and clinches.
Clark tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Speed fails to pull guard.
Speed tries to pull guard but Clark forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Clark drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Speed wants a takedown but no success here.
Speed has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Clark avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Speed looks winded!
Clark misses with some punches.

Clark gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Speed is trying to stand back up but Clark is controlling him
Clark wants to stand up but Speed has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Clark thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Speed's head.

Clark looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Speed with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Clark will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Speed on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Speed is trying to stand back up but Clark is controlling him

Speed has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clark is working away from the top position though.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Clark throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Speed goes for a double leg but Clark avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Clark continues to drive forward.
Clark really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Clark tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Speed effectively controlling the action here.

Speed breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Clark closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Speed can't do much from the bottom here.

Speed shoots for a takedown but Clark saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Speed misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Speed tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Clark manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Speed had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clark defends it easily.
Clark is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Speed can do to turn this around?

Clark throws a strike but Speed rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Speed is breathing heavily.
Clark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Speed's guard.

Clark lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Speed manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Clark manages to get himself to full guard.

Speed pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Clark is keeping the position for now.

Clark wriggles free and stands up.
Speed fails with the takedown

and Clark counters by clinching up.
Speed pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Speed fails to pull guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Clark throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Speed looking to sit in guard and control but Clark gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Clark distracts Speed with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Clark content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Clark tries to stand but Speed is controlling from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clark accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Clark is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clark accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Speed looking to control.
Clark is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Clark with a nice head shot there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Speed's head.

Clark has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Speed is trying to hold Clark in close to prevent damage but Clark has managed to pass into half guard.
Clark seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Speed bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Clark shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Speed napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Speed tries to bench press Clark off him but Clark keeps the position.
Speed wants to get back to his feet but Clark is dominant here and he's now got Speed's back!
Merrill Clark overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Clark wants to control but Speed is keeping busy.

Speed takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Speed covers up after that shot from Clark.

Clark lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Speed is covering up but some of the strikes from Clark are getting through and doing damage.
