Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Enrique Jimenez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Benji Cada! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cada feints and then cracks Jimenez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jimenez down. Cada ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jimenez moves away. Jimenez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Cada is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jimenez scores with a couple of nice shots. Jimenez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jimenez connects with a nice short shot to Cada's temple. Jimenez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cada has managed to free his arm - good work. Jimenez is trying to work for a kimura but Cada is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cada tries to kick Jimenez off in order to stand up. Jimenez Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cada tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Jimenez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cada wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Jimenez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cada has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cada! Jimenez is trying to control the position but Cada postures up. Jimenez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jimenez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cada wants to get up but he can't break Jimenez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Cada in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cada avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cada trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jimenez's guard. Cada is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jimenez has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cada is looking to defend but Jimenez has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cada! Jimenez pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cada taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Enrique Jimenez!
