Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smith Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viljo Lainevool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Smith Michael has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Smith Michael!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Viljo Lainevool!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lainevool keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lainevool manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Michael on his heels. He'll look to pass Michael's guard now, I'm sure.
Michael not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Michael is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lainevool's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lainevool in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lainevool is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lainevool has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Michael tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lainevool swivels and escapes.
Michael stuffs the takedown attempt from Lainevool. Lainevool gets slowly back to his feet.

and Lainevool counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Michael looking to control but Lainevool passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Michael wants to get back to his feet.
Lainevool is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Michael really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Michael tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Lainevool counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lainevool slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Michael thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Michael is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lainevool defends well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lainevool controlling from the top position.

Lainevool closes this distance looking for a takedown but Michael circles away.
Michael misses with a double jab

and Lainevool counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lainevool working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Michael's head.
Lainevool seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Michael will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Michael is trying to control the position but Lainevool postures up.
Lainevool prevents Michael from getting back to his feet.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Michael is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Michael stalling away here and it's allowed Lainevool to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Lainevool is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Michael is controlling him.
Lainevool keeping moving, preventing Michael from controlling successfully.
Michael won't allow Lainevool to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Michael is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lainevool sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lainevool gets the takedown into side control.
Lainevool is staying tight to Michael's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Lainevool has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lainevool has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lainevool is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Michael is controlling him.

Michael got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lainevool has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Michael has managed to get both his arms back between Lainevool's legs - danger averted.
Michael won't allow Lainevool to get back to his feet.
Michael throws an elbow that misses. Lainevool uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Michael's guard. Nice move by Lainevool!

Michael knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lainevool on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lainevool controls from within his opponent's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viljo Lainevool showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Michael moves to clinch but Lainevool breaks away

We've been informed that Lainevool has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Michael tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lainevool wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Lainevool looking to score a takedown here. Michael is defending well but Lainevool drives through and ends up in Michael's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lainevool is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lainevool prevents Michael from getting back to his feet.
Lainevool controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Smith Michael has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Viljo Lainevool is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Viljo Lainevool comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lainevool has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
