Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Kamara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Mateusz Puszke! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kamara throws a right and a left that Puszke avoids nicely. Puszke unleashes a big counter combination but Kamara bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Kamara throws an off balance right hand
and Puszke counters with a three punch combo that has Kamara backing up. Kamara nods at Puszke to acknowledge the strikes. Kamara tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Puszke was well out of range. Poor timing from Kamara. Kamara stuns Puszke with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Puszke scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Kamara enables Puszke to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kamara manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Puszke is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kamara looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puszke is one step ahead there. Puszke postures up.
Puszke wants to pass the guard but Kamara is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Puszke stands and steps away. Kamara gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Puszke takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A jab from Kamara misses. Kamara lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Nice straight punches there by Kamara. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kamara. Kamara shoots in looking for a takedown but Puszke manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kamara's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Puszke throws a counter combo. Kamara throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Puszke.
Michael Kamara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Puszke clinches. Kamara takes an elbow to the temple. Puszke successfully pulls guard.
Puszke is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kamara throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Puszke's body to avoid the submission. Puszke has instead reached around Kamara's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Puszke arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mateusz Puszke!
