PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darnell Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lady Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darnell Cane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lady Boy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boy moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cane misses with a takedown attempt
and Boy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cane doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Boy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Cane drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Boy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cane scores with punches from side control.
Boy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cane wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cane landing strikes.
Boy takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boy tries to improve position but can't.
Boy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cane scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Boy to see if he's OK.
Cane has control of an arm but Boy manages to advance to Cane's back!
Will Boy go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Boy looking to hold on to the position here but Cane rolls and ends up regaining guard.
Boy wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cane seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cane drops an elbow to the side of Boy's head.
Cane slips a nice elbow through Boy's hands, connecting with Boy's forehead.

Boy is looking to control Cane's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Boy avoid being mounted?
Boy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cane haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Boy wants to control but Cane passes into side.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Cane controls the position.
Boy is trying to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cane cracks Boy with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Boy is trying to control Cane's posture but Cane avoids it.
Cane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Boy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Boy wants to control but Cane is having none of it.
Cane lands a big elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cane postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Boy looks a forlorn figure.
Cane lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Cane is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Cane looking to score a takedown here. Boy is defending well but Cane drives through and ends up in Boy's guard.
Cane postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Boy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cane controls the pace.
Cane lands a couple of elbows.
Cane is pushing down on Boy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Boy is fighting to maintain full guard but Cane has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cane perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cane lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Boy wants to get back to full guard.
Boy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Cane's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cane looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boy wants to control but Cane is keeping busy.

Boy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cane is working away from the top position though.

Cane is nestled in close to Boy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Boy is in trouble now - Cane has advanced to mount!
Cane is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Boy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Boy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Cane is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Boy will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boy tries to bench press Cane off him but Cane keeps the position.

Boy thumps Cane with a low kick.
Boy throws a leg kick which misses Cane's front leg but catches the back leg as Cane tries to avoid it.
Cane shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cane looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cane keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Boy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Cane might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lady Boy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cane is in close to Boy's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Cane gets to his feet. Boy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lady Boy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cane closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Boy quickly recovers to half guard.

Boy tries to get to full guard but Cane has control of the leg.
Cane is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Cane seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boy for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cane blocks the strikes from Boy.

Darnell Cane showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cane, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
