Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Palmer Patel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chinedu Eze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Palmer Patel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chinedu Eze! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eze forces Patel back against the cage and clinches. Patel lands with a light punch inside. Patel is trying to push Eze away but Eze has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Eze gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Patel has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Eze is on him like a limpet, forcing Patel back against the cage. Patel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Eze walks away with a smile on his face. Patel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nice sprawl there from Eze as Patel shoots in. Chinedu Eze seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eze darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Eze looks winded! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Patel is looking to get back to full guard here but Eze has managed to pass to side control instead. Eze decides to stand back up. Eze steps back and let's Patel get back to his feet. Eze feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patel working a defensive guard but Eze manages to pass into side control anyway.
Patel is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. A control attempt from Patel but he's now mounted! Patel is trying to escape the mount.
Eze throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Eze throws some wild stikes that Patel manages to avoid easily.
Eze unloads with some shots from mount but Patel bucks and avoids them well.
Patel tries to reverse the position but Eze maintains control. Eze tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Patel wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Eze.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eze controlling the position easily from mount. Eze throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Patel because Eze loaded up on that one. Patel keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Eze postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Patel looks a forlorn figure.
Eze controlling from the full mount. Patel gets back to half guard. Patel wants to get back to full guard. Patel moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eze stands up and waves to Patel to follow him. Patel dives in and grabs Eze's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eze pushes down on Patel's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Palmer Patel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Eze leaves Patel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. And Eze tries to counter it with a takedown but Patel pushes his down on his head and steps out. Eze gets the takedown into side control. Patel explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! A slapping body kick lands there for Eze. Patel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Eze kicks off Patel and gets to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Patel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Eze sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Eze feints the counter takedown. Eze shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Patel's guard. Eze stopping the sweep attempt from Patel. Eze slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Patel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Eze trying to control but Patel is working from the bottom. Patel wants to improve his position but instead Eze has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chinedu Eze dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Eze throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Patel tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Eze is in Patel's guard. Patel pushes Eze off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Patel tries to close the distance and clinch but Eze swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Patel fails to land the takedown. Eze shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Patel scrambles and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Eze stuffs the takedown attempt from Patel. Patel gets slowly back to his feet. Eze tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Patel paws at him with a jab and circles away. Patel is looking to counter with head kicks. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Patel. Eze looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Palmer Patel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Patel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eze pinned against the cage. Eze gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Eze drives through and clinches with Patel against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Patel. Eze scores with a nice hook to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eze successfully pulls guard.
Eze uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Patel tries to sprawl but Eze drives through with a takedown into half guard. Patel makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! This has been an exciting period of action! Patel shoots in and drives through. Eze sprawls well. Patel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Eze can pounce on him.
Patel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Eze swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Eze closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Patel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Patel.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patel working for submissions but it's allowed Eze to get to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Eze's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Patel missing with punches from the bottom.
It looks like Eze is going to stand back up.
Patel wants to get back to full guard. Patel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Eze. Patel tries to roll over but Eze keeps him under control. Eze not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Eze is thwarting Patel's attempts to control the position. Eze with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Patel wants to get back to full guard. Eze is figuring out what he wants to do next. Eze has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Patel is not content to let Eze control the position. Patel is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Eze jumps into side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chinedu Eze showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Eze moves into the clinch successfully.
Patel throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Eze blocks it with crossed arms. Eze's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. No luck for Patel with that takedown attempt. Eze is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Sloppy strikes from Eze. Those never looked like landing. Eze closes the distance and pushes Patel back into the cage. Patel misses with a short punch on the inside. Patel could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eze's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Patel on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Eze. Eze obviously looking to wear him down.
Eze lands a glancing blow to the side of Patel's head. Eze takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eze's waist but Eze gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Patel off to one side. Eze fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Patel to the ground. Eze is now in Patel's guard. Patel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Eze is one step ahead there. Eze wants to control from the top but Patel keeps moving. Patel looking for a sweep. Not yet Patel, not yet. Eze wants to pass the guard but Patel is keeping the position. Eze with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Eze's guard. Eze trying to control the position.
Eze utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Patel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Eze controls Patel momentarily but Patel frees himself. Eze keeping moving, preventing Patel from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eze wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Patel manages to pass to side control. Eze trying to control but Patel postures up.
Eze is looking for a sweep. Patel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Eze is looking to control Patel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Eze avoid being mounted?
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Eze scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Eze is trying to control. Patel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Patel tries to roll over but Eze keeps him under control. Eze trying to control from half guard but Patel is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Patel tries to roll over but Eze keeps him under control. Palmer Patel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chinedu Eze is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Patel is not content to let Eze control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Chinedu Eze comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Eze has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
