Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carolus Rex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Parent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Parent told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carolus Rex! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Parent! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rex blocks a leg kick. Rex wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Parent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rex sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Parent somewhat. Parent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rex tries to counter by clinching up but Parent breaks away and moves out of range. Parent misses with a looping left. Rex lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Parent at a distance.
Parent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rex pinned against the cage. Rex gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Carolus Rex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Parent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rex scores with a hook.
It looks like Bobby Parent has been cut. Rex checks a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Parent. That snapped Rex's head back.
Parent has his takedown stuffed and Rex counters with a nice uppercut. Rex looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Parent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rex pinned against the cage. Rex gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Some wild striking there from Parent.
Carolus Rex is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Parent tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rex swats him away and circles back towards the center. No luck with that takedown attempt from Parent. Rex tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Parent manages to circle out of the way. Parent doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parent closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rex's guard. Rex has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Parent off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A telegraphed right hand from Rex misses the target. Parent tries to clinch up. Parent has a takedown stuffed. Parent clinches up with Rex and pushes him back against the cage. Rex working aggressively here.
A nice left hand lands by Rex.
A shot in the inside from Rex. Parent jumps guard but Rex stands there with Parent around his waist. Parent gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parent changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rex fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rex throws a poor cross that misses
and Parent counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rex won't be happy with that. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Parent is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rex will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Rex on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rex tries to get out of the position. Parent postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Rex knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Parent on the ground. Parent happy to just control the position for now. Parent tries for a kimura but Rex is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Parent decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rex to his feet. Parent has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Parent there as he acknowledges the shot. Parent is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rex is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Parent. Parent lands a glancing blow to the side of Rex's head. Nice defenses there by Parent. Rex waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Parent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Parent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Carolus Rex will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Bobby Parent's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Parent misses with a takedown attempt - Rex sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Horrible takedown attempt by Parent or perhaps it was just good defense by Rex, which made it look bad. Rex is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Parent. Parent shoots in and bounces Rex off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Parent showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rex working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Parent. Parent slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Parent fails with a takedown attempt. Carolus Rex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Parent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rex throws a shot from downtown. Parent moves away and avoids it. Rex throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Parent thumps Rex with a low kick. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Parent lands a slapping body shot.
Parent misses with an uppercut. Rex saw that one coming. Rex with a body punch. A glancing blow. Parent looks to land a left hand but Rex moved out of range nicely. Parent fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rex avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rex stuffs the takedown. Parent closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rex's guard. Parent throwing strikes from guard but Rex blocks nicely. Parent is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Parent stands and steps away. Rex gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. A big left from Rex misses. Parent tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Parent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rex pinned against the cage. Rex gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rex just misses with a punch to the body.
Rex digs a good body shot into Parent's ribs. Parent takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Rex lands a jab to the nose. Parent closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rex quickly recovers to half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Well, if Parent is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Parent has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Death Valley Training Facility. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd cheers as Rex lands an impressive looking overhand right. Parent doesn't seem phased though. Parent takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Horrible takedown attempt by Parent or perhaps it was just good defense by Rex, which made it look bad. Parent shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rex tries to land a sweep but no joy. Parent tries to free his leg and advance position but Rex is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parent is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Rex keeping full guard, as Parent tries to pass. Parent is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Parent. Parent tries for a takedown but Rex sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Carolus Rex has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Parent. Parent uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rex.
Parent with a lazy takedown attempt and Rex counters by moving into the clinch. Nice body punch from Rex - that landed with a thud.
Parent has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rex after a bit of a struggle. Rex lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Rex lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Parent backwards. Rex tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Parent's elbow. Rex lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Parent backwards. Parent misses with a short punch on the inside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Parent goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rex prevents it.
Nice body punch from Rex. Rex pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Parent misses with a takedown attempt and Rex counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Parent closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rex circles away. Parent shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rex but Rex pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rex seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Parent takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Parent takes a body punch but keeps moving. Rex lands with a cross.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rex tests Parent's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Parent is rocked! Parent with a lazy takedown attempt and Rex counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Parent is still on wobbly legs! Can Rex finish him? Rex is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Rex lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. A shot in the inside from Rex. This has been an exciting period of action! A right handed body shot lands from Rex.
Parent jumps guard but Rex stands there with Parent around his waist. Parent gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rex presses Parent against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Rex lands a right hand. Rex lands a big right hand that drops Parent! The killer instinct kicks in and Rex finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Rex!
