PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fubar Teller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Fellows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Fubar Teller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Fellows!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fellows misses with a low kick.
Teller scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Teller dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fellows. That did some damage!
Fellows pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
It looked like Teller was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Fellows.
A shot to the body from Fellows misses
and Teller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fellows avoids the head kick by Teller.
Teller rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Fellows counters with a one-two to the body.

Teller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Teller is nestled in close to Fellows, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Teller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Teller is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Fellows reverses the position - he's now on top in Teller's guard.
Teller tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Teller seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Fellows with a flurry of punches that miss.
Teller lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Teller lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Teller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Teller slips nicely into half guard.
Teller is trying to control. Fellows wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Teller working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Well, if Teller is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Teller wants to control but Fellows is keeping him busy.

Fellows tries to roll over but Teller keeps him under control.

Teller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fellows keeps working.
Teller landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fellows has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Fellows tries to kick Teller off in order to stand up. Teller Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fellows turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Fellows tries to work over Teller's front leg with a kick but Teller checks it.
Teller is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fellows can do to turn this around?
Fellows keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Teller looks to land a left hand but Fellows moved out of range nicely.
Teller backing away here, and Fellows unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Some bone on bone action there as Teller checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Teller tries to counter with a takedown but Fellows is quick to defend against it.

Teller attempts a counter takedown but Fellows avoids it well and moves away.
Teller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Fellows unleashes a big counter combination but Teller bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Fellows takes a swing at Teller's ribcage but misses.
Fellows pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Teller. Fellows shrugs it off though.
Fellows misses with an attempted mid kick.
Teller half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
A low kick from Teller is predictable there
and Fellows counters with a nice leg kick.
A combination from Teller does no damage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fellows darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Teller swats away the attempt to clinch by Fellows.

Fellows misses with a body kick.
Teller throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A nice side step and Fellows releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Fellows looking to land some kicks to the body here.

and Fellows makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Teller really felt that one!

Fellows throws the kick towards the body but Teller avoids it.

Teller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Teller wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fellows, who protects the arm well.
Fellows is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Teller is controlling him well.
Fellows prevents Teller from improving position.
Teller throws an elbow but Fellows slips to the side and avoids it well.
Fellows tries to improve position but can't.
Teller is working Fellows over with some ground and pound from side control.
Fellows wants to control but Teller postures up.

Teller misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Teller misses with the ground and pound.
Fubar Teller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Teller is putting a hurting on Fellows here, landing some big shots from side control.
Teller is looking to take a break and control but Fellows is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Teller lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Fellows down.

Teller tries to score with some ground and pound. Fellows controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Teller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fellows swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Teller throws a push kick but Fellows slaps the foot to one side.

Teller lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Teller lands a nice shot to the body.

Fellows checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Fellows throws a low kick but Teller moves out of range easily.
Teller throws a chopping leg kick but Fellows manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Fellows ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fellows appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Teller throws a head kick that misses.
Good leg kick by Teller there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Fellows chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Teller can pounce on him.
Dean Fellows is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fellows takes a kick to the side of the head.
A bone on bone clash there as Fellows blocks the leg kick.
Fellows blocks the body kick.

Teller fails with a takedown attempt.
Fellows throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Teller dives in for a single leg takedown but Fellows sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Fellows was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
