Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor McClosky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for David Ellis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Connor McClosky!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClosky moves out of range of the strikes.
McClosky slips a jab and a cross from Ellis.
Ellis loads up on a big right hand but McClosky slips the punch.

McClosky drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ellis is looking to stand up but McClosky isn't so interested in that idea.
McClosky controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McClosky lands a couple of digs.
McClosky is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
McClosky distracts Ellis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McClosky chips away with some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McClosky is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ellis wants to stand and escape but McClosky is having none of it.
McClosky working some strikes from top position.
McClosky keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ellis's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McClosky distracts Ellis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McClosky postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

McClosky is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

McClosky chips away with some ground and pound.

McClosky controlling from the top position.
McClosky working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
McClosky stops Ellis from standing up.
McClosky seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ellis is looking to stand up but McClosky isn't so interested in that idea.
McClosky is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McClosky stops Ellis from standing up.
Ellis is breathing heavily.
McClosky slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

McClosky bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
McClosky lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McClosky prevents Ellis from escaping the position.
McClosky moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
McClosky working the head with strikes.
Ellis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
McClosky is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ellis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ellis pushes McClosky away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McClosky gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ellis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McClosky asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McClosky tries to advance to mount but Ellis denies him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor McClosky dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ellis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ellis misses with a few strikes there.
McClosky changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
McClosky with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ellis to score with a decent uppercut.
A telegraphed right hand from Ellis misses the target.

McClosky gets the takedown into side control.

The referee asks McClosky politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McClosky prefers to stall for the moment though.
Check out the look on McClosky's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Connor McClosky has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ellis tries to escape but McClosky is in control.
McClosky connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ellis some visible discomfort.
Ellis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Ellis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McClosky taking a breather here.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McClosky creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Ellis is being controlled here.
Ellis on the wrong end of some ground and pound.


Ellis is rocked!
McClosky cracks Ellis with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Oh Ellis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McClosky tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McClosky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
McClosky scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Ellis is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and McClosky can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor McClosky!
