PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pius Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiggle Puff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jiggle Puff!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Puff moves into the clinch successfully.

Puff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ho closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Puff's guard.
Ho sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ho scoring with punches to the head and body.

Puff is looking for a triangle but Ho pushes his legs off easily.
Ho postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ho seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puff has momentary wrist control but Ho slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ho stops Puff from standing up.

Ho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Puff has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ho has managed to get both his arms back between Puff's legs - danger averted.
Puff is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ho seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Puff is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ho is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ho works over Puff with some ground and pound from guard.
Ho postures up.
Ho scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ho working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Ho content to stall in guard here.
Ho lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Puff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ho's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ho has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Puff looking to control.
Ho slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ho postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Puff should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ho is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ho distracts Puff with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Puff wants to get back to his feet but Ho is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ho is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ho is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ho stands up over Puff, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Ho with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Puff controls Ho momentarily but Ho frees himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Puff drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Puff looking to sit in guard and control but Ho gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ho won't allow Puff to sweep him here.

Ho slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ho is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Puff can do to turn this around?

Ho is working Puff over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Puff can do anything to dispel that myth.

Puff wants to stand but Ho is controlling the position.
Puff is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Puff.

Puff fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ho, pushing him back against the cage.
Ho tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Puff jumps guard.
Ho chips away with some ground and pound.

Puff looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ho thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ho not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ho won't allow Puff to get back to his feet.

Puff being controlled here, momentarily.
Ho has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Puff has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ho jumps guard but Puff turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Puff just leaning against Ho, taking a breather.

Ho wants the takedown. Puff is fighting it off but Ho persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Puff's guard against the cage.

Puff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ho is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Puff is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ho defends well.

Puff working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ho doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ho manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ho is in close to Puff's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Puff is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ho wants to stand but Puff has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Pius Ho is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ho, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
