The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smarks is defended easily by Murphy.
Murphy rushes Smarks and presses him up against the cage.
Smarks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Smarks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Smarks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smarks has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Murphy doesn't defend quickly enough and Smarks has managed to lock this one up! Can Murphy escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Smarks on a fantastic submission victory.
