Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Keefer (ranked 6451 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Callahan (ranked 6442 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Callahan! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callahan scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Keefer looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Keefer stands up over Callahan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Callahan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Keefer defends it easily. Keefer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Callahan is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Keefer throws a big elbow that misses. Keefer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Keefer lands a couple of decent looking shots. Callahan has momentary wrist control but Keefer slips an elbow through the middle. Keefer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Keefer throws a strike but Callahan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Keefer wants to control but Callahan is keeping busy and won't allow it. Callahan is looking to stall here but Keefer recovers full guard.

Callahan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Callahan lands in his opponent's guard. Callahan prevents Keefer from getting back to his feet. Keefer keeping moving, preventing Callahan from controlling successfully. Callahan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Keefer seems keen to control Callahan's posture. Callahan trying to control the position from guard on top but Keefer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Keefer pulls Callahan in to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Keefer wants to stand up but Callahan is controlling him. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Callahan looking to sit in guard and control but Keefer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Callahan has momentary wrist control but Keefer slips an elbow through the middle. Keefer chips away with some ground and pound. Keefer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Keefer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Callahan has his hands on Keefer's head, controlling the position. Callahan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Keefer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Keefer trying to control the position from guard on top but Callahan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Callahan keeping full guard, as Keefer tries to pass. Keefer lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Keefer's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Callahan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Keefer scoring with punches to the head and body. Callahan is breathing heavily. Callahan trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Keefer won't allow Callahan to get back to his feet.

Keefer postures up in Callahan's guard and throws a big left but Callahan blocks it. Keefer content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Callahan is trying to keep Keefer in close.
Callahan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Keefer is trying to stand.

Keefer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Callahan can do to turn this around?

Callahan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Keefer is holding on to half guard well. Callahan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Keefer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Keefer dives in for a single leg takedown but Callahan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Keefer here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Keefer shoots in for a double leg but Callahan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Callahan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Keefer is trying to defend but Callahan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Callahan is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Keefer fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
