Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reed Fowler (ranked 5519 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eleider Alvarez (ranked 6145 p4p, 0 weight class). Eleider Alvarez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reed Fowler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eleider Alvarez! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez drives through with a takedown into Fowler's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Fowler looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Alvarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Fowler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alvarez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fowler keeping full guard, as Alvarez tries to pass. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fowler is on top in guard.
Alvarez has an active guard here but Fowler has managed to pass into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez is trying to control but Fowler manages to pass to mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Fowler lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Fowler prevents Alvarez from getting the reversal. Alvarez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Alvarez wants to improve his position but Fowler is controlling well.
Fowler winds up and cracks Alvarez with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Fowler postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Alvarez to stand up. Alvarez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Alvarez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Fowler tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alvarez tries to score with some ground and pound. Fowler controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Fowler gets back to half guard. Fowler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alvarez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alvarez's back! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Fowler lands with a hammerfist to the side of Alvarez's head. Fowler keeps control of the position as Alvarez tries to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fowler throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Alvarez!
Fowler is punishing Alvarez with strikes - can he finish him?! Fowler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Alvarez grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Alvarez is trying to remain composed but Fowler is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Alvarez trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Alvarez trying to get back to his feet but Fowler is in full control for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fowler is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Fowler is working the ground and pound. Can Alvarez escape? Fowler loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Alvarez hold on?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reed Fowler dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Alvarez gets the takedown into side control. Fowler tries to buck Alvarez off but Alvarez is having none of it. Fowler looking for a sweep but Alvarez has passed into full mount! Oh no! Fowler slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Alvarez throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Fowler to regain full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fowler is controlling Alvarez's posture. Fowler tries to land a sweep but no joy. Fowler is working hard here to advance position.

Fowler keeping moving, preventing Alvarez from controlling successfully. Alvarez looking to pass the guard. Fowler wants to sweep but no luck. Fowler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alvarez's guard. Fowler is looking to stand up but Alvarez won't let him. Fowler is in close to Alvarez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fowler postures up in Alvarez's guard and throws a big left but Alvarez blocks it. Fowler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alvarez can do to turn this around? Fowler is working Alvarez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Fowler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Alvarez is trying to keep Fowler in close.
Fowler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Alvarez's head. Alvarez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Fowler stacks Alvarez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Fowler! Fowler cracks Alvarez with an elbow. That is naaassty. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alvarez tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Fowler presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarez is in a horrible position here. Fowler smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fowler landing shots from mount. Fowler landing strikes, looking to finish! Fowler takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Fowler lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Alvarez can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez wants to control his opponent's hands but Fowler gets his hands free. Fowler is landing with strikes. Alvarez can't take much more of this. Alvarez tries to roll but Fowler sticks to his back.
Alvarez is breathing heavily. Fowler lands a shot to the body. Alvarez looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Fowler is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Fowler gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Fowler gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Fowler apologises and we restart here on the feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alvarez lunges at Fowler with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fowler's hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Reed Fowler dominated that second round. That's time! Fowler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Alvarez throws a sloppy head kick and Fowler moves out of range easily. Fowler appears to be looking for a big counter. Alvarez moves into the clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Alvarez is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Alvarez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Fowler goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alvarez prevents it.
Fowler pulls guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fowler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fowler is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Fowler working the head and body with strikes. Reed Fowler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Fowler is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Alvarez is looking to improve his position.
Fowler looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alvarez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Fowler wants to stand up but Alvarez has a hold of him and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fowler prevents Alvarez from improving his position. Fowler missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Fowler lands strikes from half guard. Alvarez is trying to get back to full guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fowler lands a nice short elbow. Alvarez tries to get to full guard but Fowler has control of the leg. Alvarez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Alvarez has hold of Fowler's hands but Fowler slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Alvarez gets back to full guard.

Fowler loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Eleider Alvarez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Reed Fowler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that's the end of the fight! Reed Fowler showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fowler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
