PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kirby Stout (ranked 5139 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casey Lee (ranked 5271 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kirby Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Casey Lee!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stout defends well and Lee ends up having to push Stout into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Stout to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Stout is in close to Lee's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lee is wriggling around but Stout manages to pass to half guard.
Lee is trying to stand back up but Stout is controlling him
Stout missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Stout controlling the pace.
Stout has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stout thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head.
Lee wants to get back to full guard but Stout has passed into side control.
Stout working away.

Lee is working to avoid the ground and pound but Stout connects with a decent elbow.
Stout working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Stout is putting a hurting on Lee here, landing some big shots from side control.
You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lee is looking to regain half guard here but Stout keeps moving and retains side control.
Stout creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Lee is trying to control Stout's posture but Stout avoids it.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stout. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lee is trying to control Stout's posture but Stout avoids it.
Stout landing strikes.
Stout in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Stout creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Lee is looking for a sweep.
Stout has control of an arm but Lee manages to advance to Stout's back!
Stout trying to control the position but Lee manages to sink in the hooks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stout tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Stout tries to hold on but Lee pushes him away.

Lee tries to control but Stout wriggling away.
Lee looks winded!
Lee throws some wild stikes that Stout manages to avoid easily.
Stout tries to lock up and control but Lee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stout really wants to buck Lee off and get back to his feet.
Lee wants to control the pace but Stout is squirming around nicely.
Stout is wriggling around trying to escape.

Lee connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Lee tries to push Stout's head away but Stout is holding on tight.
Stout is trying to stand up.
Lee thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Lee won't let Stout get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Stout is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Lee controlling the pace for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lee tries to control but Stout wriggling away.
Stout sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lee fails with the takedown.
Lee shoots in but no luck this time.

Lee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Stout!
Kirby Stout overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stout can't do much from the bottom here.
Lee is chipping away with strikes.

Lee is trying to control the action in half guard but Stout is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stout is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Stout wants to hold on but Lee pushes him away.

Stout sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Lee trying to control the action but Stout is working from the bottom.
Stout lands with a few short shots to the body.
Stout desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Stout wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.
Stout tries to roll over but Lee keeps him under control.
Stout wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.

Stout pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stout keeping hold of Lee's head, controlling as best he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lee shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Stout eats them both and turns towards Lee to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kirby Stout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Casey Lee.

Stout clinches up against the cage.

Stout decides to pull guard.

Stout has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Lee has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Lee lands a nice uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stout wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lee has him pressed against the cage.
Lee is looking to break free of the clinch but Stout has double underhooks.
Stout tries to pull guard but Lee won't allow it.

Stout has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lee regains guard immediately.

Lee manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stout gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lee to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Stout is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Casey Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lee moves in looking to clinch but Stout pushes him off.
Stout throws a quick counter head kick but Lee was just out of range.

Stout looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lee has one foot on Stout's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Stout blocks the body kick.
Lee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stout tries to avoid it but Lee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stout to the ground. Stout escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stout tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance.

Stout clinches up against the cage.
Lee doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Lee holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lee will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Stout up against the cage.

Stout tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Stout lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lee backwards.
Lee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stout gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stout just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kirby Stout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Casey Lee.
Lee goes for a takedown attempt but Stout pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Stout has managed to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee misses with a hook to the ribs.

Stout has picked Lee up - he's going for a ride! Stout dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Stout is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lee is holding on to half guard well.
Stout working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Stout lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Lee is trying to control but can't.

Stout scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stout winds up and cracks Lee with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Stout working over Lee with some ground and pound. Lee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Lee wants to control but Stout is keeping busy.
Stout wants to take a breather but Lee is having none of it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stout connects with a nice short shot to Lee's temple.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stout drops an elbow to the side of Lee's head.
Stout is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Stout seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Stout postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Lee to stand up.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Stout sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stout lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kirby Stout showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Stout has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
