0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lasse Pedersen! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pedersen falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nakanawa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pedersen's guard. Nakanawa postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Nakanawa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Nakanawa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nakanawa throwing strikes from guard but Pedersen blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nakanawa sitting in guard here, content to control. Nakanawa postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nakanawa working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Pedersen's head. Pedersen keeping full guard, as Nakanawa tries to pass. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Nakanawa working some strikes from top position. Nakanawa controlling from the guard. Nakanawa connects with a couple of short punches. Nakanawa is working Pedersen over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Nakanawa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Nakanawa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pedersen's waist but Pedersen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nakanawa off to one side. Nakanawa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pedersen moves to clinch but Nakanawa breaks away and Nakanawa counters with a nice double leg into guard. Nakanawa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Nakanawa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pedersen can do to turn this around? Pedersen trying to keep a closed guard but Nakanawa is proving a slippery customer.

Nakanawa defends it easily. Nakanawa is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Nakanawa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pedersen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pedersen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nakanawa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Nakanawa landing with the ground and pound. Nakanawa's corner is telling him to maintain position. Pedersen keeping full guard, as Nakanawa tries to pass. Pedersen has his foot on Nakanawa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nakanawa works his way back into a safe position though. Pedersen is looking for a triangle but Nakanawa pushes his legs off easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hirohito Nakanawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A swing and a miss from Pedersen. Nakanawa swats away the attempt to clinch by Pedersen. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pedersen darts in trying to clinch and Nakanawa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nakanawa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Nakanawa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Pedersen explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Pedersen fails to land with a series of punches.
No luck for Nakanawa with that takedown attempt. Pedersen tries a head kick but it misses.
Pedersen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Nakanawa feinted with a counter takedown. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pedersen misses with a straight left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pedersen tries to clinch but Nakanawa moves away and Nakanawa counters with a single leg into guard. Pedersen didn't expect that. Pedersen manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Lasse Pedersen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pedersen tries to clinch there but Nakanawa circles away.
Pedersen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nakanawa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pedersen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nakanawa somewhat. Nakanawa chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pedersen can pounce on him.
Lasse Pedersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pedersen tries to clinch up but Nakanawa circles away and keeps his distance. Pedersen tries to clinch up and Nakanawa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Nakanawa. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pedersen is looking for a triangle but Nakanawa pushes his legs off easily.
