Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oskar Schmidt (ranked 2684 p4p, 252 weight class) and Israel Montanyo (ranked 3806 p4p, 320 weight class). Schmidt comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Dreams. Israel Montanyo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oskar Schmidt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Israel Montanyo! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice combo by Montanyo! Oh, that's hurt him - Schmidt falls to the canvas and Montanyo follows him into side control. Montanyo tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Montanyo is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schmidt is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Montanyo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Schmidt tries to roll over but Montanyo keeps him under control. Schmidt regains full guard. Nicely done. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Montanyo is looking to stand up but Schmidt won't let him. Schmidt trying to control the position here. Schmidt has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schmidt continues to stall. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Schmidt has a closed guard, preventing Montanyo from standing up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Schmidt uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Montanyo. Montanyo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Schmidt. Montanyo misses with a series of wild punches.
Sloppy strikes from Montanyo. Those never looked like landing. Danga de danga de dang - Montanyo scores with a four punch combination!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schmidt throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Montanyo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Schmidt is in Montanyo's guard. Schmidt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Montanyo's head. Schmidt passes Montanyo's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Schmidt scoring with strikes to the body and head. Montanyo is trying to escape back to his feet but Schmidt uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Montanyo wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Schmidt controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Israel Montanyo dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Montanyo throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Israel Montanyo seems to be getting the better of the standup. Schmidt slips a jab and a cross from Montanyo.
Schmidt fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Montanyo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Schmidt backs up against the cage.
Israel Montanyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schmidt looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Schmidt wants to take a breather but Montanyo is having none of it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montanyo can do anything to dispel that myth. Schmidt wants to pass to mount but Montanyo is defending the position. Schmidt is nestled in close to Montanyo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Montanyo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Montanyo is rocked! Schmidt is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Montanyo is surviving well by controlling Schmidt's body position as best he can. Montanyo is still in real trouble! Can Schmidt finish him? Schmidt lands a big shot to the head and Montanyo winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Oskar Schmidt! During a confident post fight interview, Oskar Schmidt thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. In defeat, Israel Montanyo stepped up to the mic, saying 'You know, it is what it is. I lost. I'll be back.'.
